1 Name: Date: Cohort: Unit 2 Project Menu Planner: Unit 2: Age of Reformations Due : All items in the main dish, the specified number of side dishes and dessert must be completed by the due date Thursday, January 11, You may select among the side dishes and a dessert item. Main Dish (Complete ALL 3) 1. Create a political cartoon describing one positive and one negative aspect of each of the following periods we have studied: Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment a. You will have a maximum of 6 cartoons, two for each concept. You MUST provide a positive and negative aspect of each period. b. Each Cartoon must be labeled with the period that it depicts. c. You may draw your cartoons by hand OR create and print them online using any of the suggested sites listed in the Resources section. All cartoons must be printed out or ed. d. Hand drawn cartoons must be colored and should not be turned in on notebook paper. 2. Rewrite the lyrics to a popular song, or create an original song, that summarizes an event that occurred during the Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment (American, French, or Latin Revolutions) a. Your song may be based on a specific event, person, or the concept/topic as a whole. b. You must include Unit 2 vocab terms specific to your topic in your lyrics and underline them. c. Record yourself performing your song (video or audio) or, perform in person. 3. Answer the following Lesson Essential Questions for Unit 2. Your answer for each question should be a minimum of 1 paragraph and should include a Central Idea and 2-3 supporting details to support your statement. a. LEQ1 : How did the reformation change religion and the balance of power in Europe, and lead to political and cultural conflicts? b. LEQ2 : What were the different ways the Catholic Church responded to the Protestant Reformation? What were the effects of these responses? c. LEQ3 : What was the Scientific Revolution and how did it change society? d. LEQ4 : What was the Enlightenment and h ow did it influence politics and society? e. LEQ5 : How did Revolutions inspired by the Enlightenment change social, economic, and political practices in the New World? Side Dish (select 2) 1. Assume the role of an individual you learned about during our study of the Scientific Revolution. From that individual s perspective, create a minimum of 10 TWEETS that he may have written about his theories, contributions, and/or experience living during the Scientific Revolution. a. You may select any of the following: Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Sir Isaac Newton, Francis Bacon, R. Descartes, Tycho Brahe

2 2. Create a Wanted or Hero poster for a person you learned about during our study of the Reformation. a. You may select any of the following: Martin Luther, John Calvin, King Henry VIII, Pope Leo X, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth I, Ignatius of Loyola, or William Tyndale b. Include a Sketch (or Picture) of what the person would look like c. A reward amount/ listing of specific crime or heroic action, with an explanation; Date the action occurred. d. Brief bio of the individual and a quote someone may have made about that individual (Bio Info should include: Birthdate, Birth Place, Family, Education, Major life accomplishments, etc) 3. Create an illustrated timeline of the Age of Reformation. Your timeline should start with the end of the Middle Ages (late 1300 s) Enlightenment (1700 s). a. Be sure to include key events discussed in class and any items you discover during independent research. b. Timeline may be created on poster or digitally using google slides. 4. Assume the role of an individual you learned about during our study of the Enlightenment. Create a biographical website for that individual that details information on their background ( Birthdate, Birth Place, Family, Education, etc ), enlightened ideas, and contributions to society and government (if any). a. Use weebly.com or google sites to create a website for free 5. Assume the role of a person that may have lived during the American, French, or Latin Revolution (suggested roles: wealthy landowner, bourgeoisie, peasant, poor farmer, royalty, merchant, child, woman, etc). Create a handwritten journal or digital diary that provides details of the individual s experience living during that time. You must be sure to include information about the characters age, family situation, occupation, education, interests, and detailed accounts of their daily life. Dessert (select 1) 1. Create a Dance, Skit, or Commercial relating to a key event/ concept of the Reformation, Scientific Revolution, or Enlightenment. You must record your production and provide a digital copy to the teacher using , YouTube, or flash drive. 2. Create a Soundtrack for Unit 2. Select songs from today and the past that you feel captures the ideas and events of the Reformation, Scientific Revolution, or Enlightenment and list the title, artist, year of publication, and a brief explanation about how the song relates to the time period. a. You must specify what Concept the song relates to b. You must create a catchy and relevant title for your LP and create an album cover. c. Your LP must include at least 10 tracks 3. Create an A-Z Book on the Age of Reformation. Include 26 key events, terms, facts, etc from the Renaissance, Reformation, Scientific Revolution, and Enlightenment that represent each letter of the alphabet. a. Your book must be neat and colorful (text may be typed or handwritten) b. Each page must contain a picture (can be drawn or printed), the term, and details about how it relates to the unit. c.
