3 Online Catalog and Locating Books By clicking on online catalog from the library s home page, this page will come up. Books can be searched by Title, Author, Subject, Keyword, etc. The Default is to search by title. NOTE: We DO NOT Purchase TEXTBOOKS!!!

4 Locating Periodicals Online, in Print and Microform You may access this page by clicking on the online and print newspaper, journal, and magazine link from the library s home page.

5 Locating Databases by Subject Users can identify Database Coverage by clicking on a Subject or Discipline.

6 Locating Databases by Title Users may also choose Databases from an alphabetical list.

7 Off Campus Access Use this screen to access our resources from off campus.

8 Interlibrary Loan (ILLIAD) We DO NOT borrow TEXTBOOKS through INTERLIBRARY LOAN!!!

9 Interlibrary Loan Request Menu You may request books, photocopies, book chapters, etc. using this Interlibrary Loan form.

10 Electronic Reserves To access this page, click on the Electronic Reserves link from the library home page.

11 Electronic Reserves Page To access this page, click on the Electronic Reserves and Reserves Pages link from the previous page. On this page, you will find links to resources your professors have placed online. Reserves can be located by Course Reserves Pages, Department, Instructor and Title/Author.

14 Library Catalog Search You may search by title, author, subject, keyword, journal, resource name, and by Government Document Number. In this case, we have performed an author search for Toni Morrison. Please Note: Search screen defaults to Title Search.

15 Search Results Screen Please note: When you perform an author search for Toni Morrison, 28 results have shown up on this screen. You may also search for Toni Morrison by subject and keyword. Please pay attention to the Location, Call Number, Status and OPAC Message.

16 Library of Congress Classification Outline The Tennessee State Libraries and Media Centers use what is known as the Library of Congress Classification Scheme to arrange and catalog their hard copy (print) materials before being placed on the shelves. 20 Circulation Policies Students, faculty and staff must have a valid TSU ID to check out library materials. Undergraduate students may check out 10 books at a time; graduate students may check out 20 books at a time. Persons with a valid Tennessee driver s license may register for check-out privileges and borrow four books at a time.

21 Role of Reference Department Located on the second floor of the Library, the Reference Department supports the academic mission of Tennessee State University in three areas: 1. Instruction 2. Research 3. Public/Community Service

22 Special Collections and Archives Located on the third floor of the Library, Special Collections and Archives houses books and materials by and about African American citizens, Afro-American Culture and History Conference and Tennessee State University, etc. Special Collections hours are as follows: Monday-Thursday Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:45 p.m. 8:00 a.m. 4:15 p.m.
