With a fine INSCRIPTION in pencil by Keller at the bottom half of the photo: "To: Mr. Carl E. Jackson/with pleasant memories/of his kindness." SIGNED by Keller in her typical pencil and by Thomson in ink. Photographs signed by Keller are quite uncommon; those with such a fine inscription as this are scarce. Keller almost always wrote in pencil, and with photographs often the lead did not take well to the image and all that remains is the impression from the pencil in the photo with none of the lead from the pencil. In this case, the writing is quite dark and legible, only hard to read when it crosses the dark coats worn by both women. In the original envelope addressed in Thomson's hand to Jackson at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Memphis. Fine. (#016772) $2,500.00
