4 1 EDI Certification Process To better serve both our customers and the vendor partners with which we have been working, Ex Libris has undertaken an ongoing process for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) testing and certification. Goals of Vendor Certification Our goal is to work with the vendor community to: 1. Produce clear guidelines for the EDI message formats accepted by Voyager 2. Identify any vendor-specific anomalies in the EDI message processing in Voyager 3. Certify each vendor with which we have successfully tested that message As a result of this certification process, any vendor with Ex Libris-certified EDI messages should be able to provide EDI files to any Voyager customer without special intervention or testing on either Ex Libris' or the vendor's part. In essence, a library interested in communicating with a certified vendor via EDI will need only to create the EDI Connection Profile in the Voyager Acquisitions module and to arrange to receive and load production messages from the vendor. In addition, through the relationships and shared knowledge base that we build with vendors in the certification process, both Ex Libris Customer Support and the vendors' customer service units will be well prepared to provide the assistance required by our mutual customers.
