1 Kindergarten Summer Reading Program Kilby Elementary School The purpose of the PWCS Summer Reading Program is to encourage students to enjoy quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills. Student participation in the program is voluntary. Students who choose to participate in the program are required to complete a minimum of five books. Students participating in the program in Kindergarten will complete a list of books read. The documentation is to include the name of the author, the title of the book, and a parent or guardian signature indicating that the student has completed the reading. For Kindergarten students who participate in Prince William County Public Library's Summer Reading Program, the Public Library documentation will apply. Students in Kindergarten who read a minimum of five books will receive an extra S+ for each book completed, for a total of five. The summer reading documentation will be submitted by the student by the end of the first week of school. The following titles are suggestions for summer reading. Other books selected by the student with guidance from a parent/guardian and/or librarian are also acceptable. Participation in the PWC Public Library Summer Reading Program and its documentation is also acceptable.

An alphabet book filled with funny creatures. Two children sitting at home on a rainy day are visited by the Cat in the Hat who shows them some tricks and games. Trixie becomes very unhappy when she accompanies her Daddy to the Laundromat and realizes she has lost her stuffed bunny. Any other series Elephant and Piggie The Pigeon Series 2007 and 2003 and Stories feature the interaction between two lovable and funny characters, an optimistic and sometimes reckless pig and a cautious, pessimistic elephant. Recounts the adventures of a very funny bird.

She never yells and she gives the easiest assignments. The students in Room 207 take advantage of her good nature until circumstances change and the kids must face the challenge. (available in book and cd format) The adventures of close neighbors and best friends: Pinky, a boy who loves to collect stuffed animals and whose favorite color is pink, and Rex, sports-crazy girl who is passionate about dinosaurs. Harry inevitabley orchestrates the most terrible things, like putting a vial of ants into the refrigerator. But Harry isn t always horrible, especially when it comes to Song Lee. His growing devotion to her gets him into some awkward situations. Spirited text and wry illustrations will delight any child who s known a bad mood or a bad day and managed to laugh anyway! A literal minded housekeeper causes a ruckus in the household when she attempts to make sense of some intstructions. Classic, simple and hilarious stories. An outrageously, funny series showing how rumors can make a student create a monster of any teacher. Follow Hubie s imagination as he faces his comically horrible fears a school.
