2 Annual Report Usage of the library continued to grow during with the circulation of materials increasing by 9% over the previous year. The library continues to analyze and develop its collections and services in order to ensure high quality resources for the public. This on-going analysis of library services by the library staff has been coupled with the library board and the library staff updating and re-writing the library s long range plan. It is expected that the updated long range plan will be completed during 29. Every effort is being made to reflect the changes in how the public uses the library, how technology provides access and resources, and what the expectations of the public for collections and services provided by the library should be. During the library staff continued to enhance the library s home page to reflect current trends and demands for information from the public. We now offer more interactive options and expanded choices for patrons to manage their own accounts. Online full text e-books, and downloadable audio book collections have continued to grow as well as enhanced searching and access to the book and audio visual collections. The library continues to improve access to current statistical information about the community, comprehensive information about events occurring in Logan, and an increasing number of interactive pages for the public seeking information. 14 Adult Acquisitions Number of Patron Requests by Month 26- Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Report Fic Books FSF Books Number of Patron Requests by Format 26- MYS Books NF Books Books on CD ENT DVD's EDU DVD's Music CD's Highlights of the Year: 1. Beginning in October, all patron materials requests have been first processed by the Adult Acquisitions librarian. From this point, items are purchased or referred to the ILL, Children s, or Young Adult librarians. This has resulted in a dramatic shift in the way the library processes patron requests. It has also lessoned the problem of duplicate requests where the library was sometimes purchasing and item and ordering the same item through ILL. 2. Significant focus has been given to the Adult Audiovisual Section of the library. Space is lacking throughout the library, and in this section additional space was found by carefully discarding hundreds of seldom used books on tape and videos during the past year. This effort has resulted in more room for in-demand audiovisual formats such as DVD s and others. 3. An ongoing effort has been made and still continues to streamline the adult booklists both on the library website and in E-Library. Both sites now include the same booklists with few differences. In addition, many of the lengthy lists have been altered to be author lists, making them less cumbersome. 4. Working with the ILL librarian, discarded items from the former Everton Genealogy collection have begun to be sold online in earnest since the summer. These items include older editions and multiple copies of items being retained in the collection. By the end of, thousands of dollars in books sales have resulted.
