3 What is a library catalogue? A library catalogue tells you what material (with specific information about the type of material) is held by a particular library. Most libraries have computerised catalogues which allow you to access the library catalogue via the Internet. This type of computerised catalogue is often called OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).

4 What is a library catalogue? Usually you can not use the library catalogue to search for individual journal articles. To fully exploit the range of services on a modern library catalogue you need to understand what you are searching and how to search effectively.

5 What is a library catalogue? Bibliographic information about the work: the author and title of the work the publication date, publisher and other bibliographic information the type of material

6 What is a library catalogue? Item information about the copies of the book the library has: the item's location within the library or group of libraries the classmark of the item (this tells you where the book is on the shelf) the status of the item (whether it is currently on loan, available in the library or reference use only)

13 AIRE Cerca la citazione Starting from the citation of articles, books or journals, this search tool displays the list of services available for those documents and provides links to them. The citation linker can determine if the item is available electronically via full-text; if the item is available in print in the library or if the item needs to be requested through the interlibrary loan service. You can also access other services such as bibliometric indicators and tools for managing bibliographies.
