7 Getting started: How do I buy more prescribed books 1. ulink a. Select E-Textbooks b. Then Gradnet E-Textbooks After redeem you can read your book Redeem STEPS: 1. Log in to ulink 2. Click on E-Textbooks under Modules and Communities 3. Click on the first option Gradnet E-Textbooks 4. View your list of books 5. Select Buy for the book you are interested in 6. Follow the steps in the online basket 7. Return to the Gradnet E-Textbook page 8. Select Redeem this book 9. Select Read Online or Read Offline 2. Gradnet E-Textbooks Buy* * You can buy additional prescribed e-textbooks books for which UJ negotiated discounts.

9 How to download the ereader: Step 1: Log in to ulink In your browser, type Log in using your student number and password. Click on: E-Textbooks Select the first option: Gradnet E- Textbooks

10 How to download the ereader: Step 2: Click to download the ereader To download the ereader, click on the button. Please note: Download the ereader when you are logged in to Gradnet. If you have previously created a Vitalsource account, support@gradnet.com or phone the Gradnet Call Centre at /8 from 08:00 to 17:00 weekdays, to merge the accounts before proceeding.

11 How to download the ereader: Step 3: Select your download preference Select an operating download mode that is a match to your device of preference Click when you have selected the download suited for your device You may select one of the options provided in the download screen. Windows 7/8/10 Select this option for Widows 10 only For Windows 7 & 8, select the Win XP/Vista option below OS X (10.8+) Select this option for Apple Mac s IOS Select this option for all Apple ipads and iphones Android Select this option for all Android devices Win XP/Vista Select this option for Windows 7, 8, XP and Vista

12 How to download the ereader: Step 4: Execute the BookshelfSetup The BookshelfSetup.exe icon should appear at the bottom left corner of your screen. Please note: If you have selected the relevant Apple or Android options, the download will take place in the App Store or Google Play. As soon as the program has executed, double click on the icon to install Bookshelf. If your BookshelfSetup.exe icon does not appear at the bottom of your screen, it may be in the Downloads folder of your Windows computer.

13 How to download the ereader: Important training notice How to download the ereader: Step 5: Approve BookshelfSetup changes You might encounter a Windows security warning during the Windows 7/8/10 or Windows XP/Vista download. Click on More info, then click on Run anyway. Click on any of the prompts to approve the download. Click on YES to approve the BookshelfSetup changes to the hard drive of your computer. Should your computer warn you about a possible security breach, please click to allow the installation.

14 How to download the ereader: Step 6: Select your installation language How to download the ereader: Step 7: Wizard startup Click OK to select English as the language for installation. The Vitalsource Bookshelf Installation Wizard should automatically start extracting the installation files.

15 How to download the ereader: Step 8: Confirm installation on your device How to download the ereader: Step 9: Accept the licensing agreement Click Next to confirm installation of Vitalsource Bookshelf on your device. Click I accept the terms of the license agreement Click Next to accept the Vitalsource licensing agreement

16 How to download the ereader: Step 10: Confirm the destination folder Click Next to install to C:\Program Files. How to download the ereader: Step 11: Click to install Click Install to proceed with the installation..

17 How to download the ereader: Step 12: Click to finish wizard Click Finish to exit the InstallShield Wizard and complete the installation of the ereader. Exit the Gradnet browser. Restart your device.

18 How to download the ereader: Important notice Follow above steps to successfully install your Vitalsource Bookshelf ereader to the device of your choice. You may download the ereader to up to four devices, namely a PC, laptop, mobile or tablet which may be supported by either Windows, Android or Apple operating systems. When successfully downloaded, the ereader icon should display on your Windows desktop or with your other apps on your Apple or Android device/s. You may also view your e-textbooks online by logging in to To redeem, open and download your e-textbooks both offline and online, you must be signed into Gradnet. Please note: To view your e-textbooks offline, you must first redeem and open it.

19 How do I login to the ereader? After installing the VitalSource ereader; Open the VitalSource ereader on your device. Log in with your studentnumber@student.uj.ac.za and your ulink password. Don t register for an account! > first go to ulink > E-Texbooks > GradnetE-Textbooks

21 Don t want to login through ulink every time? NB: You have to log in at least once through ulink to activate your account with Gradnet and Vital Source then redeem or buy your books. Don t do the below steps if you have NOT logged in to ulink first and gone to Gradnet E-Textbooks first! Login to Gradnet Go to: Login with your studentnumber@student.uj.ac.za and your ulink password Login to VitalSource Bookshelf online website Go to: Login with your studentnumber@student.uj.ac.za and your ulink password Login to the VitalSource ereader Open the VitalSource ereader on your device Log in with your studentnumber@student.uj.ac.za and your ulink password When you reset your ulink password, your the E-Texbook log in is also reset
