1 Anticipation Guide First, you and your partner will buddy-read the story, Farewell to Shady Glade*. Then read each statement below. If you agree with the statement, color in the box in the AGREE column. If you disagree with the statement, color in the box in the DISAGREE column. The second environmental picture book for children was The Wump World, published in A year after The Wump World was published, the Dr. Suess book, The Lorax was published. There are interesting parallels in The Lorax to both The Wump World and Farewell to Shady Glade.

5 Comparing Characters Sometimes different characters in different books share the same experiences. After reading Farewell to Shady Glade, and The Wump World, answer the following questions. 6 Book Cover After choosing a Bill Pete book of your choice, design and color your own book cover for the book you have just read. Then complete BOOK QUESTIONS to go with this activity. REMINDER: Be sure to include the title, author s name and the illustrator s name (yours). You may use the 8 x 11 drawing paper your teacher will provide.
