1 English 2 CP Curriculum Planning Guide Planning for English is driven by an Essential Question. There are multiple novels listed that apply to each Essential Question, choose one to read when studying a given Essential Question. Refer to the High School English Required Reading Selections for actual course requirements. The same novel may appear under multiple Essential Questions depending upon its relevance. In addition to the novels, there are cold reads, text readings, and informational media that also fit with a given Essential Question. Use a variety of these when planning for instruction. All readings from the textbook include a key idea, quickwrite, vocabulary, background, discussion topics, literary elements, and reading strategies.
