Historical Note The Soroptimist International of Henderson, Nevada was a volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls. It was established sometime in the early 1970s. By 1994 it appears low membership rates caused the group to disband. In 2000 the club was re-established as the Soroptimist International of Henderson/Green Valley. Examples of local projects include "Dress a Child," a collaboration with Safe Nest to help provide children with school clothes and the "Women's Opportunity Award," which helped women caring for their families while trying to continue their education. Fundraising efforts included a Mother's Day Brunch and an annual golf putting tournament. - Page 3-

4 Scope and Contents Note The Collection is comprised of records of the Soroptimist International of Henderson/Green Valley Chapter from 1980 to 2004 and include meeting minutes, programs, photographs, international regulations, conference materials, promotional material for various fund raisers, awards, and a gavel. Projects included working with Safe Nest and helping women caring for families. Arrangement Material is arranged alphabetically within each box.
