A very good copy with the prospectus loosely inserted. 140 The first printing of a unique household recipe book date 13th Jany., It contains more than 200 receipts, many contributed by well-known people. One finds Lady Bety Wentworths Gravey Soup, Lady Midelton's Oatmeal Puding, Mrs Womersley's Pipen Jeley; culinary and medicinal receipts by Lord Lonsdall, Lady Allen, Lady Lowther, Mrs Wombwell and others, Much good old fare is given - Wiggs, Veall pye, Tanseys, Gofers, Slipcoat Chees, Ginger Bread, Cakes, home-made wines, &c. 9.Banks (Colin). True to Type: Introducing Letterpress Printing & the Works of Small Presses. Narrow 8vo, [40]pp., printed at the Libanus Press, Marlborough, for the Crafts Council, Typeset in Joanna and printed on pink recycled paper; 4pp duotone plates by the Senecio Press, printed Rivoli card covers. A fine copy. 25 Published in July 1994 to accompany the exhibition 'True to Type'. This copy with a very lengthy inscription from Colin Banks to Ian Rogerson (about the exhibition going to the John Rylands) at the front. 10.(Bastien Brothers) Bastien Typographica.[Edited by Alfred Bastien]. Large 4to, 31cm, pp.[vi],206, inserts, Bastien Brothers, [West Drayton, Middlesex] n.d. (1937). Set in Monotype Times Roman with Juno for display and initials in Select; many inserted leaves in colours, black-and-white reproductions in the text (many photographic), and with a very extensive display of type specimens at the rear. Grey cloth, upper board titled in gilt. Piece cut from pp.81-82, pp cut into bits, otherwise a very good copy of an excellent productions, issued occasionally from Especially eye-catching are: King's English and the Merchant Prince, by T.E. Elias; Printing Under the White Ensign, by Col. Sgt. F. C. Sheppard, R.M.; Australian Printing History, by John Gartner.

3 A huge array of types is shown in many colours, mostly in full fount. Some of the less usual ones are: Bernhard Tango, Flamingo, Gayton, Gillies Gothic, Holla script, Lettres Ombrees, Motor, Nova, Onyx, Park Avenue, Schaeffer-Versalien, Signal, Trafton, Trojan. 11.Bawden (Edward, illustrator) & Dell Leigh. East Coasting. 8vo, 25cm, pp.64, Printed at the Curwen Press, Issued by the London and North Eastern Railway, (1931). Title-page and 8 headpieces in colours, 14 line drawn vignettes. Rules, ornaments and borders, mostly in black but with some in red, green or yellow. Stapled into orange paper wrappers, titled in black on the front within a border or rules. Very slight wear to extremities and offsetting of orange from the covers to the rear and title-page, A very good copy indeed. 475 One of the most attractive of Edward Bawden's pre-war commissions with its humorous portrayals of Victorian seaside resorts ("great fun", Bliss p.41). Typefaces used for display include Centaur, Cochin, Fournier-le-Jeune, Koch Italic, Maximilian Antiqua, Moreau-le-Jeune, Perpetua and Walbaum. 12.Bawden (Edward). Pictorial boards from a lithograph by the artist, matching dust-jacket. Bookplate. A fine copy in matching dust-jacket. 350 `Take the Broom' was originally published by Rainbird McLean in an edition of 500 copies in The text of this has been very much altered. Otherwise, this is the first appearance of the other eight stories, all of which were told by Bawden to his children. In the story Right Away Driver, Richard Bawden may be identified as the engine-driver of the Cheltenham Flyer, Joanna Bawden is the girl in the Schiaparelli hat, and Edward himself is Mr Draw de Nedwab. 13.Bawden (Edward). New copy in its blue presentation envelope. 15 The book is one of a set of six tales drawn by Edward Bawden for his children, Richard and Joanna, during It was first published, in the original size,, redrawn for lithographic printing, in an edition of 500 copies by George Rainbird and Ruari McLean in 1952 for presentation to friends. A new edition of Take the Broom, differing greatly in size and detail, was contained within Hold Fast by Your Teeth (Routledge, 1963). One of the twenty-four Bodley Head Booklets, , which were all printed at The Stellar Press, including illustrations and covers, under the direction of Bill Hummerstone. The texts were set in Ehrhardt metal types (excepting No.5). A special paper was made for the press at Hollingworths' Mill in Maidstone and became know as Stellar Laid. This was first used in No.8 and thereafter in all issues except Nos 12 and 14. Dark grey cloth with maroon label titled in gilt on the front, spine gilt. A very good copy indeed (Cambridge Christmas book) Bridges on the Backs: a series of drawings by David Gentleman. Introduced by Peter Eden. Oblong 4to, Title, pp.6,sub-title,9 plates (6 with one or more hinged overlays) Cambridge: Printed for his Friends by the University Printer, One of 500 copies printed in Monotype Times Wide on Spicer's cartridge paper. A fine copy. 280 `Bridges on the Backs is unique - it opens like a lady's handbag; unique in other ways too and, I think, my favourite of the larger books, perhaps of them all. David Gentleman's drawings are delightfully reminiscent of youthful Cambridge in summertime. Peter Eden in his text and captions carries his erudition with consummate grace, and the overlapping illustrations, a la Humphrey Repton, never fail to surprise.' Grey paper boards titled in white on upper and lower covers (designed by Reynolds Stone), blue cloth back titled in gilt. A fine copy in the matching slipcase. 80 A book that's worth possessing for the absolutely dreadful printer's error on the title-page - if you can spot it. 39.(Cambridge Christmas book) Eden (Peter). 9 gold, natural linen spine. A fine copy. 50 The gilt device blocked on the boards, however attractive, was an error. The idea had been to depict a typical fen craft, but the wrong model was taken. 40.(Cambridge Christmas book) Franklin (Colin). Emmy Keet ( ), born in The Hague, was awarded a scholarship to the RCA, where she was influenced by her tutor Robert Austin, as well as Edward Johnston as Eric Ravilious. After a visit to Hungary in 1934, she began to teach embroidery and design, and subsequently married Michael Dinkel in Dream Children, her collected work was published in (Double Crown Club) The Double Crown Club.
