1 Central Valley School District Library 4 th Grade August September Standards October Standards Library Rules and Routines Develop an understanding of rules in the library (e.g., library voice, listening skills, sitting appropriately in chairs, etc) Students will share book-care ideas based on their own experiences Demonstrate how bookmarks are used Develop an understanding of circulation procedures Read books on manners and make the connection to good library manners Make seating chart for all students STAR Collaborate with other teachers regarding testing procedures Distribute book marks with reading levels Book care Develop an understanding of proper care of materials borrowed (e.g., holding a book with spine facing down, turning pages correctly, and proper care of books outside library) Floor Plan of Library Review of Todd Lane library, including circulation desk, area for book selection, and work stations OPAC Understand that all materials are catalogued on the computer Review searching using OPAC (online card catalog) Search by modeling on SMART board Locate book titles independently when searching by title and/or author, and subject in OPAC Demonstrate ability to locate books using variety activities (e.g. games) Locate books using OPAC on individualized Accelerated Reader levels Dewey Review the main categories of Dewey, review non-fiction books are organized by Dewey Decimal numbers Acceptable use of resources Review appropriate websites used on school computers Use basic computer software D
