Characterization is how an author reveals what a character is like. thir person omniscient Someone outside the story is observing and telling about the characters and events. Elements of setting include specific geographic locations, seasons, time of day, or more general references to the past, present, or future. Plot consists of the events in a story and how they unfold. Figurative language is language used in a nonliteral way. Key questions to consider as you read or write about a story s plot: 2. How do a character s actions, words, or circumstances add to the problem? 1. What kinds of figurative language does the story include? Give an example of each kind. 2.
