2 Hello Everyone, Thank you to Dolora, Marla and Andy for hosting our Christmas Party luncheon. I hope all of you enjoyed it as much as Dianne and I did. Many of us had not been to the Swiss Hotel before. I heard several people comment that they will be back as the food was delicious and the service was excellent. My two years as President has come to an end. I had a lot of fun as your President and I have to "Thank" the membership for making it fun. I appreciate all of the support I ve received and the positive comments. I would like to "Thank" the club for the wonderful "Thank You Card" and the Gift Certificate. This means a lot to me and it touches my heart. I would also like to "Thank" my fellow officers and monthly hosts. It took an effort by all of us to make this year another successful year for the Thunderbirds of Sonoma. Happy Holidays, Tim Roden, President CTCI #10159 BIRTHDAYS Dec: Arlis Minetti = 25 Jan: Mike McLucas = 5 Jan: Tim Roden = 7 Jan: Dennis Byrne = 10 ANNIVERSARIES Dec: Dave & Jan Kibler = 5 Dec: Tim & Diane Roden = 12 Jan: None on Record Feb: None on Record Note from the Editor: Cover Photo: Holiday Message from Thunderbirds of Sonoma. Welcome to Mike and Maryanne as our new Newsletter Editor for It was fun and I enjoyed being the Editor for that last three years. I m in need of some rest and free time. So all the best to Mike & Maryanne (aka: M&M). Thunderbirds of Sonoma Dues $17.50 per individual $ per couple
3 Our Holiday Party in December was hosted by Andy & Marla Preston with the assistance of Dolora DeGeer. It was held at the Swiss Hotel Restaurant in Sonoma on the square. Fabulous menu choices along with excellent service in a private room off the hotel patio made for an exceptional holiday celebration. Marla also had Christmas treats at each place setting. Thank you Andy, Marla, and Dolora for your efforts in choosing this lovely venue and making it extra special for the members. Those in attendance were: Pat & Jim Arieta, Gil & Laura Baumgartner, Mike & Maryanne McLucas, Tim & Dianne Roden, Wes Crandall & Louise Johnson, Herman Schulze, Dennis & Dee Dee Byrne, Marla & Andy Preston and their daughter Ariana Preston-Moder, Dolora DeGeer, Jutta Einstoss, Brant & Arlis Minetti, Don & Lisa Hillman, Harry Costa and daughter Toni Bracht (Bella the Therapy Dog waited in the car). Herman & Joan Schulze s daughter Kristina and son-in-law Deric stopped by to say hello and spread some holiday cheer. Tim opened the meeting and thanked the hosts for their efforts in putting together such a fine holiday event. He also welcomed Ariana, daughter of Andy & Marla Preston. Tim also mentioned how great it was to have Gil & Laura Baumgartner be able to join us. Gil and Laura get many invites to Thunderbird club parties thank you for choosing to attend our TOS Christmas party! Dolora DeGeer had the wonderful idea of bring a child s gift for donation rather than having our usual holiday raffle. It made for a huge stack of lovely gifts for those kids who might not have been able to receive a gift this Christmas. Our club is very generous and proud to donate to those in need in our community. Tim & Herman distributed DVD's of a WHEELER DEALERS episode in which members Pat & Jim Arieta s red 57 Thunderbird was proudly featured at the beginning of the show. (This can also be seen on YouTube) Then the episode focused on Gil Baumgartner s shop where Gil demonstrated how to install power windows. BY THE WAY, this was not Gil s first appearance on TV he has previously been featured on the MY CLASSIC CAR show, and also the HISTORY CHANNEL. Treasurer, Arlis Minetti, gave the treasury report; as expected, all is well with the TOS financials. There was ONE Thunderbird in attendance on this December day and that was the 1955 Thunderbird owned by Don & Lisa Hillman. Hats off to you for bringing your Thunderbird out for our event! Pat & Jim Arieta will host the next meeting on January 4th for a Sunday brunch at Mister McGoo s in Petaluma. See flyer in this bulletin for details. There was an open invitation to host other months in 2015 and many members signed up to host. A list of those members is forthcoming. Tim gave sincere thanks and gift certificates to the officers present that supported him as president this past year. Pat, Arlis, Dee Dee, and Herman - our cherished Editor and Webmaster. Officers for this next year will be listed in this bulletin. If you have not paid your dues for the new year yet, please give your check to Arlis ($17.50 for single membership, $35.00 for couples). All gave a huge thank you to Tim Roden for a great job during his years as TOS President. A gift was presented to Tim (and Dianne), it was a gift certificate for a fabulous night out to dinner. The gifts for the children were packed up to go to charity, hugs and holiday cheer were exchanged. Another year with the Thunderbirds of Sonoma has passed and we all look forward to next year s caravans, tours, venues, and classic car dialogue! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Respectfully Submitted, Dee Dee Byrne Secretary CTCI # 10901

13 Some parting useful ZEN Thoughts Love #15 1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either; just get the hell out of the way and leave me alone. 2. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and a flat tire. 3. It's always darkest before the dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it. 4. Don't be irreplaceable; if you can't be replaced, you'll never get promoted. 5. No one is listening until you make a mistake. 6. Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. 7. Never test the depth of the water with both feet. 8. It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. 9. It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help. 10. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments. 11. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. 12. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you. 13. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat & drink beer all day. 14. If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it. 15. Don't squat with your spurs on. 16. If you drink, don't park; accidents cause people. 17. Some days you're the statue, other days you're the pigeon. 18. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. 19. Duct tape is like the force; it has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
