Betty also noted that they had an Open House in January for discussion on the review. A. Desjardins provided an overview on the OPP Fraudulent s and noted that most fishing happens by because the process is simple and effective. Fraudsters send out lures to 'fish' for passwords or financial data. Phishing is a common on line scam designed to trick people into disclosing personal information. S. Desjardins noted that s sometimes make it look like there is a problem or suspicious activity concerning your account. Page 2 of 6

3 S. Desjardins also mentioned that residents should be more skeptical and vigilant on protecting their personal information and creating awareness by sharing the information on fraudulent e- mails. Action: For information/discussion. ii) Verbal Update from S. Desjardins, Director of Recreation and Community Services Re: Pickleball/Tennis S. Desjardins provided information on the resurfacing of McGuire Tennis Courts and noted that there are four tennis courts in Town, 2 at McGuire Park and 2 at Memorial Park. It was determined that the tennis users prefer to play at Memorial Park over McGuire Park. In 2016 Council approved the addition of $60,000 to the 2017 capital budget for the reconstruction of the courts at McGuire Park. In late 2016 Council received a deputation from Garry Morehouse of the Midland Pickleball Association and direction was made to staff to do an analysis of the possibility of resurfacing the current courts to include one tennis court and four pickleball courts. A discussion took place and it was noted that pickleball is a growing sport and has potential to attract tourism. Sherry reached out to Simcoe Tourism and they could not provide any data to that confirms or denies increases tourism to the area with either sport. At this time S. Desjardins wanted to know the consent of the members of the committee on the options that were mentioned and the members confirmed that they would like to see the reconstruction of the McGuire Courts with 1 tennis court and four pickleball courts. Action: For information. 6. FINANCIAL i) Seniors Financial Report Re: Dated November, December 2016 and January 2017 Action: For information. Page 3 of 6

Proulx noted that she will be starting to work on the Seniors Information Day by calling vendors for the event. Action: For discussion. iii) Verbal Update from S. Desjardins, Director of Recreation and Community Services Re: Holiday Craft Sale S. Desjardins mentioned to the members that if they can put some thought on the Holiday Craft Sale and see if it's an event that the Town should continue doing as there are numerous Holiday Craft Sales offered in Town around that time. S. Desjardins suggested that we could probably partner with one of the other organizers or use the staff time spend organizing the craft sale to offer something different that may not currently be available in Town. Action: For information. 8. ANNOUNCEMENTS Verbal Update from A. Proulx Re: Age-Friendly Outdoor Program Page 4 of 6

5 A. It was mentioned that normally we charge a registration fee for all of our recreation programs with the intent to cover the cost of the programs expenses (instructor fees, etc.) It was also noted that the program will be advertised in the Summer Recreation Guide which is scheduled to be released at the end of May. A. Proulx presented two options to the members as follows: Or Hosting a registered 6-week program that will operate in June/July with our Summer Programs, with an estimated program registration fee of $35.00/person Host a FREE 6-week's drop-in program, but the instructor fees are $50/hour for a total of $ that would have to be covered from the Seniors Budget.
