2 FOR SALE: 40th ANNIVERSARY WINE GLASSES $4.00 each We have 17 Wine Glasses that are available for sale. We started selling them for $4.00 each. If you would like to purchase one or more let Tim or Dianne Roden know. We will be bringing the Wine Glasses to each meeting for a limited time. Hi All, We had a lovely October meeting hosted by Dave and Dolora Hurst. The tour of the Charles Schulz Museum was fun and interesting. I think all who attended learned something new about the history of the Peanuts comic strip, Sparky and all the Peanuts characters! The drive out to the Union Hotel in Occidental was beautiful this time of year and we had a delicious and filling lunch! Thank you Dave and Dolora for putting together a great day for us! Hope you all are enjoying the slide into the fall season. It is definitely ghost & goblin time along with Orange October Baseball Fever. GO GIANTS! By the time this newsletter appears in your or mailbox, the answer to the baseball questions of the season will have been answered. Who will compete in the World Series and who will take the pennant? It's exciting knowing that our San Francisco Giants have made it all the way to the Championship Series. I look forward to seeing you all at our Thanksgiving celebration at Keith and Jamie's next month. Get your flu shot, if you haven't already and stay healthy, warm and happy during this time as the cold weather creeps in... Dave and Dolora want to apologize to the members for problems that were encountered at the Union Hotel. Dolora indicated we were supposed to have a private eating area and we were put in the general dining room. We were also to be given a special menu with more reasonable prices. Dave and Dolora also felt bad that one table was not prepared. Dave and Dolora confirmed the head count the day before the meeting, but the Union Hotel did not honored the call. As your Newsletter Editor I think I can speak for all that attended we had a great time and really didn t feel any inconvenience. 3 Veterans Day Parade in Petaluma, the Santa Rosa Rose Parade next May, Kool April Nites in Redding next April, and the November 13-14, 2010 Good Guys Swap Meet in Pleasanton. Hello Everyone, It was a foggy and cool day when the Birds flocked to the Luther Burbank Center for the Performing Arts in Santa Rosa. It may now be the Wells Fargo Center for the Performing Arts, but to most of us it will always be the Luther Burbank Center. Members Tim and Dianne Roden, Herman Schulze, Jutta Einstoss, Herb Burbank, Dave and Dolora Hurst, Dennis and Dee Dee Byrne, Pat and Jim Arieta, Doug and Leellen Trayler, Bill Goff, Harry and Ann Costa, and Jamie Thigpen and Keith Zimmerman gathered to caravan over to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. Members Ann Costa and Leellen Trayler, both of who recently experienced some health challenges, looked great! Following a very informative and enjoyable tour of the museum with a private docent, we drove to the quaint little town of Occidental where we ate at the historic Union Hotel. We adjourned to the courtyard where President Dee Dee Byrne called the meeting to order and thanked Dave and Dolora Hurst for hosting the meeting. It was noted that Dennis and Dee Dee won the Shake Rattle and Roll award at the recent Educational Foundation event in Rohnert Park. Dee Dee thanked those who showed up on Friday, October 15, to drive the homecoming court of Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa. Dee Dee thanked Tim Roden for his updated membership rosters. We discussed upcoming events including the The November Thanksgiving meeting will be held on November 6 by Jamie Thigpen and Keith Zimmerman at their home in Suisun Valley. They will provide ham and turkey and dressing, and they request that other members bring a side dish to share. Please indicate the side dish when you RSVP for the dinner meeting. The event will start about 11:30 when some members will go wine tasting, and dinner is expected to be served about 1PM. The Christmas meeting will be held Sunday, December 5, at Giorgio s in Healdsburg. We plan on lunch to start at noon, but members are encouraged to come by 11:30 to enjoy some pre-meeting socialization. The club has agreed generously to pick up the cost for members lunches and tip that exceeds $10. Tim Roden gave the Treasurer s Report for Jan Kibler. We are in good shape financially, and we see the treasury to continue to grow. 4 October Photos Our tour of the Charles M. Schulz museum was educating, entertaining and fun. Here is the actual mural that Charles Schulz painted in his Colorado Springs home in We started with a guided tour and then we were allowed to browse on our own. There was a lot to see. He was a remarkable man. This wall was created with a collage of 3,500 comics strips. That amounts to 10 years of Charles M. Schulz s work. His Peanuts cartoon strip ran from 1950 to 2000.

8 Continued from previous page. Five TOS members drove the homecoming court at the halftime ceremonies at Cardinal Newman High School on October 15th. Shown below are the 5 girls that we carried to the 50 yard line where each girl was escorted by her father to the center of the field. The girl selected as homecoming Queen is on the far left named Mackenzie. The drivers were Dennis Byrne, Herman Schulze, Chris Inagawa, Tim Roden and Dee Dee Byrne. It was a fun event.
