There are proposals for them to do a world concert tour, starting end of the year, beginning of 1985 * DEVINE has a new single released with the most peculiar title You Think You Are A Man. I wonder in what category he/she fits in?! Anyway, it's a good track and bound to hit the various charts * On July 15th, COLOURFIELD releases a single (also 12" version), entitled Take/Pushing Up The Daisies * VIKKI BENSON had her new single Easy Love released last November, but strangely enough it's picked up now by (especially) London's gay clubs. IAN LEVINE, who's a producer and deejay in London's leading gay club Heaven, has shown great interest in this track. They sold more than copies of their album By Appointment Of, in the first week of release over there and because of that, there are plans to tour in Japan end of the year. But before that, THE PRESIDENT will tour our country, starting 7th of September until beginning of October. Their tour support is a newly signed band (to WEA), BLOW BEAT. Difford & Tilbrook - Difford & Tilbrook - A&M We all remember Squeeze. They had albums released before they split up in '82 and never got the succes they were entitled to. Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, the two frontmen of Squeeze have teamed up again and this is their first joint effort. Songs like The Apple Tree, Love's Crashing Waves, You Can't Hurt The Girl and Hope Fell Down are all perfect well crafted pop songs which continue in the same vein as the last two Squeeze albums, East Side Story and Sweets From A Stranger. Kajagoogoo - Islands - EMI Should there have been doubts about Kajagoogoo's survival without a front singer, they've proven it to be otherwise with a new album of which already 3 singles have been drawn off. All equally succesful! Following their well-known musical direction with 9 perfectly arranged produced tracks all in the same mainstream funk vein. In fact all of the tracks are worth a spin. THE EUROPEAN TOP 100 (SINGLES/ALBUMS): In many European countries one chart is recognised by the music industry as the " OFFICIAL' hriparade and is therefore used for the compilation of the EUROPEAN TOP100. However there are other countries where various charts are in existence and often equally important. For -these counties we have compiled a number of these charts into one representing the sales in that market. Each chart position for every country then receives, relevant to that position, an equal points rating which is In turn multiplied by a factor determined through the Latest known sales percentage of total singles (or album) sales which that country holds in relation to the rest of Europe. There are different Percentages for singles and albums. These figures are kindly provided on a regular basis by the industry -organisations such as IFPI-BPI-Gallup-Deutsche Phonoverband etc.a European Chart -Committee, with experts from a number of these industry -organisations will overlook the calculation system and will decide an improvements, changes and updates. MEDIATALK Dutch Radio and TV organization Veronica is doing a summer club tour through Holland. Five double concerts are set up and some of them will be open air. Acts apearing are Herman Brood, Vitesse, Golden Earring, Normaal, Toontje Lager, Powerplay and Het Goede Doel. BBC David (Kid) Jensen who has a show from Monday to Thursday evening is leaving BBC and will join Capital Radio. He will take over from Michael Aspel and the Jensen show for the next few weeks will be taken over by Richard Skinner. Fabio Santini who used to be program director for RAI in Milano will leave the RAI organization but will continue collaborating as a journalist for Sonisi E Canzoni, Italy's most popular TV guide (and who are also publishing the weekly singles/albums charts a.o used in this magazine). Ciao Fabio, "Eurotipshit" will miss ya!!. Antonio Sergio who's producing the 0 Som Da Frente show in Lisboa is enthousiastically reporting that his colleague in Radio Commercial Ana Christina has a very special show called 'Ladies Of Rook' with famous names like Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Tina Weymouth, Kate Bush etc. Special 'Suen Takes' are available. "You should listen!", exclaims Antonio. The problem is however that we can't tune in on Portugese radio. Ilias Xenopoulos! our new correspondent in Greece's national radio ERT and ofcourse to Wilfried Eckel from the Saarlandische Rundfunk in Saarbrucken. We should also congratulate Radioflash, the Italian radiostation in Turino, with the beautiful posters, postcards and stickers they produced. The poster hangs proudly on our wall!! A lot of Radio and TV programs now definately have their summer breaks. Swiss popular TV Tlparade, produced by Mani Hildebrand, has just closed down. Anders Klintevall, producer for Sveriges Riksradio in Stockholm, is out of the action for the moment, He is not producing anything in the pop/rock vein until late September. We will miss your contributions Anders! The Italian RAI TV show Domenica Inn (the live Sunday afternoon program) has had its last program June 24th. It will start again in September. The second channel of SFB in Berlin presented a radio special on Mediacontrol June the 19th, reports Horst Hartwich. This is EUROTIPSHEET ON HOLIDAYS the German organization whose airplay lists we're using every week. The documentary can be taken over by other stations. If you are interested please contact Eurotipsheet. We will miss Horst's tips (he was actually one of the first regular correspondents for our magazine) till August, due to his holidays. Mikael Nilsson had his last contribution to Eurotipsheet two weeks ago. His Thursday evening program, Rock Department, on the Swedish National Channel 3 will be taking a break during the summer. He'll be back with programs early September. German television Bananas will be back on the air August 21st. This program was already pre-recorded June 11th. Marc Brillouet, the dj of ART Radio 2, is reporting that as of May 25th Radio 2 started a new program called Index on friday afternoons, which gives the result of the records chosen by a panel from Radio 2 for the ten most favourite singles. The one that's chosen the most by these dj's will be the "tip of the week" and will be broadcast each working day just before the 18.00, and again just before the hours news. ALEXANDRA'S NEWS CORNER Hello again, let's start with the weekly news * SNOWY WHITE is currently in Australia to promote his album White Flames, His single Bird Of Paradise Is taking off very well in New Zealand. In France it looks like becoming a big summerhit. After retuming from Australia, SNOWY will go straight into the studio to complete his 2nd album, scheduled for autumn release * DAVID BOWIE's new album has not been completed yet, but plans are for release in September * NINO DE ANGELO is breaking in the finally. The record Guardian Angel was a big hit already months ago in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. BRONZ (English hard rock band) are leaving for an American Club tour mid July. There are also possibilities for a US support tour, but until now it hasn't been confirmed. Their album Taken By Storm is doing quite well, while the video to their single Send Down An Angel has light rotation on MTV. BRONZ is picking up more radio airplay each week. 1st week of August there will be a new single out which is actually the American mix of Send Down An Angel, a much stronger re -mix, which is bound to score success! * SEE PAGE 111' 11 With the majority of the European Deejays and Producers going on holidays in July and August, EUROTIPSHEET will only publish 3 issues both in July and August.
