1 Newsletter November 2015 Dear members of, Welcome to all the members of Hindi Samaj. First of all A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you. Main activities undertaken by the committee for the month of November are: Paathshala teachers participated in Aveley Primary School Incursion, a multi cultural week on 5th and 6th November to increase awareness about Indian culture amongst Non-Indian Communities. Paathshala 1. Proposal submitted to Piara Waters Primary School to start Hindi classes in the primary school premises. 2. School has forwarded this proposal to Ministry of Education WA for approval. Massive advertisement on Face book page for registration in Hindi classes at Piara Waters. Nine students enrolled so far. From HSWA management committee, a very happy and prosperous New Year 2016 to all members and their families. May Almighty God shower Wealth, Health and Happiness in the coming times. Meeting highlights Discussions on new branch of Paathshala. Other activities undertaken in the month 1 A proposal submitted to Piara Waters Primary School (PWPS) to hold Hindi classes at PWPS in partnership with school. 2 Hindi classes running successfully at Piara Water branch since 25 Oct Advertisement on Facebook for students continues. 4 Expression of Interest received from adults also to learn Hindi. HSWA Facebook page cleaned and updated. Regular advertisement are being uploaded now. Validation of HSWA membership list under progress. 2

3 A step forward to take Third Branch of Paathshala in Primary School premises ( Present address: Piara Waters Pavilion, Wright Road, Piara Waters) As we informed in our October Edition that a third branch of Paathshala was opened in Piara Waters on 25 October 2015 and the classes commenced on the same day. Hindi Samaj is taking it a step further. HSWA has submitted a proposal to the management of Piara Waters Primary School (PWPS) to start Hindi classes at PWPS premises in partnership with (PWPS) from next year school term-1. Hindi Classes shall be run by our Hindi School Paathshala teachers. The proposal has been taken very positively by the school management. PWPS management has forwarded the proposal to the Ministry of Education to obtain permission. Under the proposal, Hindi classes shall be open to both PWPS and outside students (age 5 and up) as well as adults. These classes shall be open to all who wish to learn Hindi as a second or third language. There will be no cultural or religious restrictions. The Primary School will be promoting Hindi classes in their school and Ministry of Education through advertising in school notice board, newsletters, s, website etc. Primary objective of this proposal is to provide an opportunity to our students to develop basic and advanced skills in Hindi language as we believe that Education in Languages opens up career opportunities. This also provides a range of benefits, such as, stimulating brain development; enhancing literacy skills; and encouraging respect and understanding of other cultures. 3

5 Aveley Primary School Incursion ऐव ल इमर क ल इ कष ण Aveley Primary School organised a multi cultural week from 2-6 November. Hindi Samaj was invited to participate in the event. Our team participated for two days, 5 th and 6 th November. Main Aim was to increase awareness about Indian culture amongst Non-Indian Communities. Mrs Rashmi Loyalka coordinated with school management for our participation and Madhu Handa was the cocoordinator for this event. First day was assigned to incursion activities in Art and craft for year one and two children. On this day our team comprising of Mrs Ashraf Iqbal and the Paathshal teacher Rushali along with some parents with a particular mention of Mrs Hema shankar taught the school children how to make two Icons of India, namely Taj Mahal and a Peacock. We also made Toran ( a door Decoration). With the children. 7 During the break we served Indian Snacks to all staff.. Helping hand of the parents was much appreciated. In the afternoon students were made to stamp and dance on the patriotic song Jai Ho in which both children and teachers participated. 8 On the second day our children were asked to participate in the cultural evening organised by the school. Our Paathshala students performed two items, one of which was a dance that portrayed Indian culture from different states of India through regional costumes and dance steps. Our contribution was highly appreciated by the school as every one thoroughly enjoyed the activities organised by us. Overall we could call this event another feather in the cap of Hindi Samaj. Through this event we have tried to increase awareness about India culture in the minds of Non-Indian audience particularly very young children and have been successful to a large extent. The survey has been important in understanding the outlook for Australian-born and immigrants during a time of rapid population growth, rising security concerns and questioning of the working of Australian democracy. The survey has been useful in demonstrating support for multiculturalism and providing direction on areas on which to focus to build social cohesion and community.
