2 EGYPT RESEARCH PROJECT STEP 1: INDIVIDUAL WORK - Research and Take (18 pts) You will research and collect information to answer the Overview Question for your topic. To help you focus your research, your notes organizer is divided into three focus questions. These focus questions will help you gather the information you need to answer the Overview Question. HOW MANY SOURCES DO YOU NEED? 3 sources for EACH FOCUS QUESTION. You can use the same source for more than one focus question. At least one source for this project must be a PRINT SOURCE (book or magazine); the rest of your sources may be websites. WHERE CAN YOU FIND SOURCES? Approved websites can be found by going to our launch site and clicking on the links listed for your topic. Books and magazines can be used IN CLASS from the cart. WHAT FORMAT SHOULD YOU USE FOR YOUR NOTES? Your notes may be bullet points, but should be IN COMPLETE SENTENCES and should be IN YOUR OWN WORDS. DO NOT COPY WORD-FOR-WORD FROM YOUR SOURCE - THAT IS PLAGIARISM! HOW SHOULD YOU CITE YOUR SOURCES? Cite each source on your note-sheet using this format: FOR BOOKS: Author Last Name, Author First Name. Title, pg. #. For example: Collins, Suzanne. The Hunger Games, pg. 3. FOR MAGAZINES: Author Last Name, Author First Name. Article Title. Magazine Title, pg. #. For example: Barshop, Sarah. Should the Redskins Change Their Name? Sports Illustrated, pg. 15. FOR WEBSITES: Website Title. Website Address (just up to the.com). For example: Ancient Egypt. History.com. STEP 2: GROUP WORK - Poster (10 pts) You will work with other students who have researched the same topic to create a poster answering your Overview Question. After you are done collecting notes to answer your focus questions, re-read through your information. What generalization or claim can you make in response to your topic/overview Question? What evidence do you have to support the claim? Your poster will be graded using the following rubric: CLAIM: States a claim that responds to the Overview Question / 6 pts EVIDENCE: Includes at least 6 pieces of relevant and accurate evidence from research to support the claim VISUALS: Includes at least 2 visuals that are relevant to the response. These can be hand-drawn or printed. / 1 pt PRESENTATION: Information is clearly presented, and poster is free of grammatical or spelling errors.
