On page 498 Qin Shihuang is described as a ruthless warlord who will stop at nothing to win. Lines 4-7 state that his soldiers would only be paid if they presented to their generals the cutoff heads of enemy warriors. Qin was determined to conquer and rule all kingdoms and had eaten up his neighbors like a silkworm devouring a leaf. Lines 7-9 on page 503 also describe Qin as being brutal and ruthless. The lines reference the pressure the craftsmen were under when creating the masterful terracotta soldiers. The author writes, If they made a mistake they were killed. The two related descriptions of Qin depict this ruler as a savage and ruthless leader consumed by power. His name means first emperor, God in Heaven, and almighty of the universe. He would do anything necessary to have and keep it all. This included an army that was ordered to be ruthless and merciless to the enemy. This also included making over 7,000 terracotta soldiers to stand guard for eternity to protect his tomb. The artisans and craftsman charged with this work labored tirelessly, fearing any imperfection would cost them their lives. Possible Details to Include: Other relevant text-based details
