4 What is Classical Feng Shui? 4 It is important to distinguish Classical Feng Shui from New Age Feng Shui. Classical Feng Shui is based on the theories and principles of ancient texts. The term classical does not mean old fashioned. Classical Feng Shui refers to the use of classical Feng Shui theories, which have proven themselves with time; the importance is to adapt the theories to modern situations. Classical Feng Shui works on the philosophy of finding good Qi, tapping into that good Qi (by direction, location and formula) and circulate that good Qi. When a property and home has good Qi and is able to receive it the occupants of the property feel better, sleep better, have more energy and attract more opportunities into their lives hence; you are better able to achieve your goals and live a good life. Classical Feng Shui applications include Flying Stars (Fei Xing, Xuan Kong), Eight Mansions (Ba Zhai), Three Harmony (San He), Three Cycles (San Yuan), 64 Hexagrams (Xuan Kong Da Gua), Four Pillars (BaZi). New Age Feng Shui describes categories of Feng Shui that do not utilize a compass or directions and rely on intention and symbolism and the placement of objects. 6 About Marlyna Los East West Academy Classical Feng Shui Mastery Series 6 Marlyna Los had dedicated her life to helping people by creating positive change and strategies for success using the tools of Feng Shui. Marlyna Los is an internationally renowned and classically trained expert on Feng Shui. Marlyna was awarded the prestigious title of Master of Feng Shui in 2006 due to her expert qualifications in Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology, I Ching and Asian Metaphysics. 11 Module Three: BaZi Chinese Astrology 11 Chinese Astrology also known as Ba Zi, Eight Characters or Four Pillars is a sophisticated system of personality, character, health and life event analysis that takes into account time. While Feng Shui involves the environment and buildings, Ba Zi is about people. The methodology of BaZi enables us to learn fully about ourselves and others; our strengths, our virtues, our limitations and the key events covering our life. While most Westerners have some familiarity with Feng Shui, few are aware of Ba Zi and the extent of its use as a personal life or human resource management tool. Ba Zi is an extremely valuable and functional tool that has been used for centuries by the wealthy and elite of Asia to gain advantage control and empower their lives. It is only in the last 30 years that the depth of this information has been made public and available to the Western world. It involves much more than the typical animal sign predictions. Briefly Four Pillars is based on the year, month, day and hour of birth. It is analyzed using the Chinese solar/lunar calendar. Each pillar is an interaction of the five elements and yin and yang, representing influences that behave in a consistent and predictable manner. This interaction creates a closed ended cycle of 60. This cycle repeats every 60 years, 60 months and 60 days, etc. Students who complete this 3- day course will be taught how to create and interpret charts. Students will be provided with a thorough understanding of BaZi principles and the information required to practice it with accuracy and precision. A foreword by Joey Yap It's fair to say that the integrity of Feng Shui has been put through its paces recently. In the late nineties, there was a sudden 'gold rush' of sorts as new age or pop Feng Shui took off. Suddenly, it seemed that a Feng Shui makeover consisted of little more than placing specific objects, trinkets and ornaments in the home. This watered down, erroneous version of Feng Shui soon died a death, however, as Classical Feng Shui became widely studied once again.
