There are 2 contestants on the stage, one is Devon Taylor, she is dressed in jeans and a unique t-shirt, she is 21, strawberry brunette hair, dark green eyes, average body size, next to her is Evan, tall, dark hair, who is holding a guitar. Rex Gunther is the host of the show. Rex Gunther: Welcome back to America SingSatitions, I m Rex Gunther and I m with your top two most voted on singers. Devon Taylor and Evan Stephenson. Rex Gunther: All right, this is the moment you ve all been waiting for Rex Gunther cont: The winner of America SingSatitions is (pause) Devon Taylor!!!! The crowd jumps to their feet as confetti falls down around her. Devon is ecstatic she can t believe what has just happened. Rex Gunther cont.: Congratulations to Ms. Devon Taylor! It should have been you. Evan: No you deserved it. Devon V.O.: That was the moment that changed my life, winning a talent contest, signing a contract with a major record label, It was a dream come true, but I would slowly figure out it was just the beginning. INT.-G MAJOR-DAY People are running around, phones are ringing. Devon walks in with a St. Louis Blues jersey on, it says Brayton on the back of it, her hair is in a low long ponytail. Devon V.O.: That s me Devon Taylor, a girl on a mission to become the next biggest star. She trips on her own feet Devon V.O. cont: I m still working on the gravity part.

R.J. Sims, her producer, steps into the scene. He is in his early 40 s, with brown hair and brown eyes. He s cute for being older. R.J.: Devon Taylor so glad to finally meet you. He shakes hands with her. Devon V.O.: This is R.J., R.J. Sims, he s my producer, he was in a band called 6 Shooters back in the 80 s. R.J.: How old are you? 21. R.J.: Not as young as I hoped but it ll have to do. Come with me I have the studio booked for you. Already? R.J.: This is a fast world and time is money, we can t waste it. Try to keep up Follow me. He heads down the hallways to one of the studios, when Devon is approached by Linda, Devon s new assistant. She is blonde, petite, and is short. She has glasses which hides her natural beauty. Linda: Hi I m Linda, I m your personal assistant, fashion guru, etc. If there s anything you need please let me know. We ll have to start with the hair and clothes. (wondering) What s wrong with my hair and clothes? Devon looks down at her clothes. Linda gives her a your crazy look. Linda: They always ask me that. R.J.: In here Ms. Taylor. INT.-STUDIO

The sound booth is high tech, with microphones and headsets. Devon walks up to the microphone and headset that have been placed there for her. There is also a stand with song lyrics on them. R.J.: (over intercom) You ll be singing Torn Apart, your first big hit, written by yours truly. Awesome. She puts on the headphones, the left headphone not being placed over her ear. R.J.: Now show me what you ve got Torn Apart take 1. (singing) Walking on the beach alone Feeling the ocean on my feet I can t help but think back on The day our eyes did meet They couldn t be torn apart oh no Not torn apart R.J.: (upset) Stop, stop! (almost apologetically) I m sorry? R.J.: It s not you, it just doesn t sound right. It doesn t sound right? R.J.: There s something missing but what is it? (thinking) It should be a duet.

R.J.: (brushing the idea off) A duet? You can t be serious? I m serious. Think about it. The song is talking about two people and how they couldn t be torn apart. So shouldn t that mean a duet would be better? R.J.: The artist doesn t make those decisions. I m just saying coming from my perspective. R.J.: Who would it be with? I don t know Finn Daniels or somebody. R.J.: (pondering) Finn Daniels huh? Well I don t know maybe we can find somebody, I suppose we ll just move on to the next song. (singing) Twenty-four hours is all it ll take to forget about you but it s so fake. Maybe it was true that it could be me and you but I have to learn from my mistakes While she is singing Gemma, the owner of G Major enters the booth. We can t see her face, because it s so dark in the booth. We can tell that R.J. and the sound tech is afraid of her by how he tries to hide his face from her. Gemma: Is this our newest artist? R.J.: Yes Devon Taylor. Gemma: She s good, very passionate, have this song on the first rotation. R.J.: Yes Gemma.

Devon cont: (singing) I was lost and afraid. thought I couldn t find my way, but after giving you up, I ve grown up, you were holding me back, from all the things I wanted to do, letting you go was good Gemma: Good, make sure this gets into rotation today! (She exits.) R.J.: That woman could make a nun swear. Once Devon has completed the song, R.J. announces to Devon over the intercom about her performance tonight. R.J.: Tonight you will be singing the National Anthem at the Blues game tonight. (ecstatic) Oh my God! I love the Blues, I m a total die hard fan! R.J.: Really? I couldn t tell, and you can invite somebody to join you if you d like He hands two tickets to her. She looks at them with so much excitement. She hugs R.J. tightly. Thanks R.J.! R.J.: (unwrapping her arms from him in a sort of awkward way) Yeah Devon runs out into the hallway. She grabs her cell-phone, that has a Blues cover surrounding it, and calls her best friend Marley Brinkley. Marley: (on phone) Hello? Hey Marley.

Marley: Devon how are you? I m fine I was just wondering if my best friend in the entire world wanted to go to a Blues game tonight? Marley: (excited) Oh my God are you serious? Totally serious I got to do this thing for work but then we can watch the game. Marley: Of course I ll go I m starting to like this new work place. I am too I ll be there in a few! Marley: (excited) Alright! Bye. Marley: Chow. Devon heads into the booth and hugs R.J. again, to his disliking. Thanks R.J. you re the best. R.J.: I know. Devon starts running towards the door. R.J.: (shouting as she runs out) Now remember be there at 5:00! I ll be there!

She nearly runs into one of the employees. Devon (to employee) Sorry! EXT. MARLEY S HOUSE-DAY It s huge, brick, open with lots of windows. Marley comes out immediately. She is model thin, considering she is one. She is tall, long black hair, bright blue eyes, African-American, 23, but looks 21. She is wearing Eric Jones jersey and jeans with black heels. Marley: Devon this is so exciting! Haven t you ever been to one of Eric s games before? Marley: (sadly) I thought it would jinks him if I was there, I usually just watch them on the TV. Marley cont: So any new boys in your life? No not really, my singing career is taking off and I really don t need a guy right now. Marley: Oh, but I thought you liked that new producer of yours? Who R.J.? No, he is too old for me, I liked him whenever he was in 6 shooters, but that was a long time ago and you re not supposed to date within your work place. Marley: That s always been my motto (chuckles) Since when? Marley: Since, Since Well you know do you mind if I smoke?

Marley scrambles to find cigarettes in her purse. You really shouldn t smoke, it s bad for your health Marley: You re right, but you know how I get when I m nervous Well find another habit, bite your nails or Marley: (interrupts, shocked, gasps) I would never do such a thing, look at these babies She shows Devon her clean-cut, perfectly, polished nails. Marley cont.: It costs me a fortune to get them to look this great (chuckles) Sorry I suggested it Marley smiles as Devon gives her a you-shouldn t-do-it look. Marley reluctantly puts the cigarettes back into her purse. Devon smiles satisfied. INT-ARENA No other people are there, except for the players on the ice. They are warming up for the game tonight. Marley: Devon this is incredible! I ve seen games on TV, but I ve never seen it so empty before. Marley: Hey look there s Eric. The girls walk down to ice level, where Eric Jones, who is dating Marley, skates over and greets them. Eric is also African-American. He s tall, has blues eyes, and black hair. Eric: Marley what are you doing here? They briefly kiss.

Marley: Well Devon has to do this thing and then we get to see the game tonight. Eric: I m so lucky my girl gets to see me tonight. Marley: As if I don t already. They kiss again. (sarcastically) All right you two lovebirds knock it off. They hear MUFFLED sounds coming from one of the entrances. They turn to see news cameras and sports reporters surrounding one of the players. What s going on over there? Eric: Oh just Ben getting his usual attention. Ben Brayton? Eric: Yeah. Marley: He s always in and out of the tabloids, always dating some hot new model or actress, actually I think he dated one of my friends. Ben Brayton stops at the edge of the door. He s tall and handsome, with light blue/green eyes and sandy blonde hair. No, Rachel and I are so over there s no chemistry with us anymore. Guys I really have to get out and warm-up for tonight ok? Ben skates out onto the ice. All of the guys give him looks of jealousy and envy. Eric: I ve got to get back before the team punches him out. I ll see you after the game.

Marley: Ok play great. I didn t realize the guys didn t like him that much, I guess it s a good thing he s got Eric huh? Marley: Yeah Eric says somebody s gotta be, he says the guys don t like him cause their jealous of all the attention he gets, from the paparazzi and girls, and because he never shows up on time. The things they don t show you on TV. Linda: Devon, you were supposed to be in hair and makeup right now! Sorry I didn t know I had a schedule. Linda: Hurry up, come on! See ya in a bit Marley. Marley: (sarcastically) Have fun. INT.-ARENA-NIGHT Devon is waiting at the south entrance to enter the arena to sing the anthem. She s in her Blues jersey, black leggings, and grey ugg boots. The arena is packed with screaming fans. Finally a blue carpet is laid out for her to walk on. The crowd roars as the announcer introduces Devon. Blues Announcer: Since the flag symbolizes justice and freedom, and represents our fallen and still fighting heroes, will you please stand and remove your headgear as we hear the National Anthem sang by the winner of America SingSatitions and St. Louis own Devon Taylor! Devon is smiling as she walks out onto the ice. She waves at all of the fans and waits for the music to start. (singing) Oh say can you see by the dawn s early light what so proudly we hailed at the twilight s last

gleaming Coach Findlay (To Eric): Where is Brayton? Eric: I don t know coach. INT.-LOCKER ROOM Ben is caught up talking with the press again. Look guys I really have to go, they already have the anthem playing. I ll talk with you after the game. He looks over and sees a blonde girl standing at the door. Ben cont: I ll talk to you later too. INT.-ARENA Devon is finishing up the anthem beautifully. (singing) Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, or the land of the free and the home of the brave! Crowd: (rumbles) Blues! Devon waves again, smiling, she walks off the ice, when she trips on the carpet, but she is caught by a man. Be a little more careful, don t want to hurt yourself. (hasn t realized who s caught her) Yeah I tend to do that a lot. Ben Brayton.

He extends his hand to her. And you re name is? (snapping out of her trance ) Sorry uh Devon I m Devon. She shakes his hand. Devon? Interesting name for a girl. (giddy) Thanks. Shouldn t you be on the ice right now? Eh the team doesn t care. Really that s not what I heard? Yeah well you shouldn t always believe what you hear. So you re that cocky? Yeah is it working for me? (sarcastic) No not really. Devon cont.: Thank you Mr. Brayton for catching me Mr. Brayton is my dog, just call me Ben Well thank you again Ben.

He just stares at her smiling. Devon cont: You better get going, you wouldn t want to miss out on playing time. I d never miss out on playing time, but thanks for the warning. Ben cont: By the way Devon, I like that jersey on you. Devon looks down remembering that her jersey has his name on it. Yeah I like it too. INT.-ARENA SEATS Devon walks over to where Marley is sitting. Marley has a shocked look on her face. Marley: What happened down there? Was that Ben? (in a daze) Oh my God Marley, he was gorgeous, he had the most beautiful eyes I ve ever seen, but he s very cocky. Marley: Remember what I told you about him? I know, it just doesn t seem like he s like that at all. Marley: Appearances can be deceiving. Yeah I know. INT.-BLUES BENCH Ben is talking with Danny, the goalie who is sitting the game, and Eric. She was beautiful guys.

Danny: You say that about every girl dude. Eric: You got to admit B he s right. Funny, but seriously, I had a connection with her. Eric: Well no girl can beat my girl. Danny: You mean Marley? Yeah dude, if you weren t dating her and if I wasn t married I d be on that like butter on toast. Ben and Eric both give him weird looks. Danny cont: Well, you know what I mean dude s. Eric: I m a little nervous with her here, I feel kinda pressured. Don t dude, she s here to support you, not pressure you. Eric: You re right, thanks man. Mr. Findlay: Alright boys lets stop fretting over the girls and get focused. Eric and Yes sir. Danny why is Grayson playing tonight? Danny: Coach wants to save me for the Thrashers next week. Oh. Coach Findlay: Brayton Jones line go!

Ben and Eric with Tony Horton, Jay Briceson, and Will Wallace make the change and jump onto the ice. Both teams make two shots a piece. They are now in the third period. Ben and Eric s line are back on the ice. Announcer V.O.: Alright we ve got our number 1 line up on the ice. It s Brayton to Horton, over to Jones. He shoots the puck it s a shot on goal, but it s covered up by Fredrickson. They set up for the face-off, the puck is dropped, Briceson gets it over to Ben Brayton, he passes to Wallace, to Horton, back over to Brayton, 10 seconds left There a thudding of a heart beat, everything slows down. Ben shoots the puck, it goes right underneath the goalie s legs. Then the buzzer goes off. Announcer V.O.: Ben Brayton has done it, he has won the game for the St. Louis Blues! Devon and Marley jump up and down. Ben the guys go to center ice and wave their sticks in the air, saluting the fans. The team skates off the ice. Announcer V.O.: The three stars for tonight are number 3 for the St. Louis Blues, Eric Jones! Eric skates onto the ice. Everyone cheers. Marley stands and cheers for him. Announcer V.O. cont.: Number 2 for the St. Louis Blues, Will Wallace! Will skates out. Everyone claps and cheers for him. Announcer V.O. cont: And the number 1 star of tonight s game for the St. Louis Blues Ben Brayton! Ben skates out and waves, the crowd roars. Devon stands up and cheers loudly as well. INT. LOCKER ROOM-NIGHT Coach Mark Findlay is finishing up with an interview. Devon approaches him. Great game Mr. Findlay! Findlay: Thank you Ms. Taylor congratulations on winning that competition a few days ago.

Thanks. Findlay: Would you girls like to go into the locker room? Marley: (excited) Oh would we ever! Findlay: Well have at it ladies, and try to keep those boys off your tails. We ll try. As soon as the open the door Marley spots Eric. They go over to him. Marley and Eric start talking. Devon stares with envy at Marley. Devon sighs to herself. When Ben sneaks up behind her. Ha! Devon jumps, and Ben starts laughing. Do you get enjoyment out of scaring me? (chuckles) Yes I do Devon. Thanks. It was a good game! Yeah I suppose. (questioning) You suppose? Yeah, I m not in to the whole, self-centered, in-to-me, my goals, my wins type thing.

(rolls eyes) Could ve fooled me (sarcastic) Ha, Ha you re funny Well I do try (almost awkwardly) So a couple of the guys are going to a party tonight, do you want to go? Wouldn t you rather take Barbie doll over there? Devon hints to the blonde that Ben was talking to earlier. She is staring daggers at Devon. She just can t seem to keep her tiny little bug eyes off of you, and probably her hands either. Oh her, yeah I talked to her before and I guess she s just star struck. (sarcastic) Right, because you have such a way with the ladies? Please come with me? Why? You re different than other girls. I m assuming you mean good different? Yeah. (sighs) I m not dressed for a party.

You ll be fine with what you re wearing. INT.-CLUB-NIGHT Devon is clearly not dressed for the club. She is still in her jersey, while everyone else is in dresses and nice outfits. Even been is dressed in a nice shirt and nice jeans. (to herself) Yeah right I m fine with what I m wearing. (thinks he hears her say something) Did you say something? I said this is a great party! Eh it could be better. Danny and his wife Eva walk up to Ben and Devon. Devon this is (interrupts) Danny Legacy, it is so awesome to meet you! Danny: You too this is my wife Eva. Eva: (star struck) I voted for you, I m so glad you won! Well thank you, it s always a pleasure to meet a fan. Danny: Baby you want to dance? Eva: Of course, catch you later Devon.

Bye. (turns to Ben) I think we ll be good friends Ben chuckles at her then pulls her in close. The Way by Clay Aiken starts playing. Everyone starts pairing up and dancing slowly. Devon would you like to dance? Sure but I have to worn you though I m pretty bad. (playfully) I thought all girls new how to dance? That s just a myth. They start dancing. They fit each other perfectly. Devon stares up at him. (curiously) What? (smiles) Nothing DJ: Alright ladies and gents, we ll be picking it back up with a new one by my girl Devon Taylor check it out Devon s upbeat song Couldn t See Me starts playing. Everyone starts dancing to it, loving it. This is me! It s beautiful like you. Ben leans down and kisses her. Suddenly Devon s phone vibrates in her pocket. She sees that it s her alarm clock. Why now?

What is it you have a curfew or something Cinderella? (smiles) No, I have to get home, R.J. wants me at the studio bright eyed and bushy tailed, and considering it s midnight, I probably should be heading home. Well I would be glad to escort you home. I don t want you to miss the party I ll call a cab. No, No I d be happy too, this party is pretty dull anyway, plus I have to make sure you don t turn into a pumpkin. INT- G MAJOR- DAY Devon is running late, because she over slept. She didn t have time to change, so she s still in her pj s. Her hair is in a high ponytail. Sorry I m late R.J., I over slept, and I didn t hear my alarm go off. R.J.: Devon I d like you to meet The famous Finn Daniels is turns around. He s tall, light brown hair, and has beautiful blue eyes. Finn Daniels! Devon shrieks like a little girl. She can t believe Finn Daniels is right in front of her. Devon cont: I can t believe you re here, oh my God! Oh my God! R.J.: Devon Sorry

It s ok let s do a duet. R.J.: (hurriedly) Alright, into the studio we go, time is money and we are wasting it. INT.- STUDIO Devon takes off her shoes so she is more comfortable. Finn gives her a curious look. Is he always like this? Always. Why do you take your shoes off? I m more relaxed and comfortable that way, you should try it sometime. Finn immediately takes off his shoes. (chuckles) I didn t mean now. Well I should get a head start right? R.J.: Alright Torn Apart One duet, take 1 (singing) Walking on the beach alone Feeling the ocean on my feet I can t help but think back on The day our eyes did meet They couldn t be torn apart oh no Not torn apart I wanted you You wanted me We ve never felt this way There s nothing I can say But let s never part

Never be torn apart (singing) On that day we met I knew I loved you from that moment I was so attracted to you And your personality You are such a beauty My eyes couldn t be torn apart from yours Oh no not torn apart I wanted you You wanted me We ve never felt this way There s nothing I can say But let s never part Never be torn apart Once the song is finished. R.J. is pleased with the song. R.J.: I ve got to hand it to you Devon, you were right about making it into a duet. Thanks R.J. She glances at the clock on the wall. She stands up quickly remembering the hockey game. Oh shoot! What s up? I m late for the hockey game. (intrigued) You watch hockey? Yeah, it was nice singing with you Finn, I ll be in early tomorrow R.J.. I promise I won t be late next time! R.J.: (playfully)

You better not be. INT- LOCKER ROOM Devon opens the door looking for Ben. She finds him over at his locker. Ben, I m so sorry. It s alright. (kisses her on the temple) I was wondering where you were (noticing her pj s) did you just get out of bed? Ha funny I was running late this morning and didn t have time to change, someone kept me up too late last night. I m sorry, I m just glad that you got to make it down here. You ready to get out of here? More than you know. EXT- PARKING GARAGE Ben and Devon walk outside. There s a swarm of paparazzi waiting for them. The paparazzi start running towards them. EXT- DEVON S APARTMENT They pull up to Devon s apartment. Well this is me again. I don t want to sound too forward but do you mind if I come in for a little bit? Sure. INT. DEVON S APARTMENT Devon s apartment is decorated in a modern style. It s a nice place. There s lots of white, navy, and grey colors.

Would you like some hot chocolate? Sure extra marshmallows? Is there any other way? Ben takes his coat off and starts looking at her pictures on her mantle. He sees a picture of Devon and her mother. He sees a picture of Devon and her siblings too. Here ya go. (She hands him the hot chocolate in a mug) Thanks, nice looking family. Devon walks over to start a fire. She lays on her long white couch. She grabs a blanket and covers up with it. Ben goes and sits next to her. She puts her feet on his lap. Thanks, those pictures were taken so long ago. What s your family like? Devon (confused): What do you mean? You know like siblings, parents, that type of stuff? I have an older sister Dayleigh, and twin older brothers Dalton and Dayton. Dayleigh is married and I m pretty sure my brothers are still single, but who knows with those two. And your parents? (getting sad) Ok I ll say this quickly. My parents have been divorced for 16 years. I never saw it coming, granted I was 5 years old when it happened. I can still remember the day my dad moved out. I remember crying and wanting him, he didn t even turn around to look at me, he just kept

walking, walked right out of my life. And your mom? My mom, she uh (sigh) She died 6 years ago from leukemia. Devon, I m sorry. No it s ok, it s taken me a while to get over it but, we have to move on right? Yeah I guess we do. What about your family? (chuckles) Oh boy my family we re quite a sight to see. My parents are still happily married, or at least blindly happy, I have a younger brother and sister, who are so completely opposite, it s not even funny, they re a, they re a crazy bunch. But not you huh? Nope not me, I m the sane one. Can I ask you something? Sure. Do you ever get lonely, being so far away from your family? Sometimes, I miss my siblings a lot, but I, I don t really miss my dad, as sad as that is, I didn t get to grow up knowing him, so it doesn t really bother me, I do get lonely when I think about my mom and how much I miss her, you must get lonely too, with your family being in Canada? Yeah, at first that s what I thought I wanted, to get away from everybody and experience new things, but after a while I started missing them more. It s hard you know?

Yeah I do know, I know. Devon takes a sip of her hot chocolate. Then Bing, her cat, jumps up on Ben and he spills his hot chocolate on himself. Ben jumps up from the heat. Bing! Oh my God I m so sorry! It s ok, but I think he has it out for me. Oh really? Why s that? Because he doesn t want me to get to close to you. (chuckling) Yeah he is the jealous type. I d like to take you somewhere. When right now? Yeah, I ve got an extra pair of pants in my bag. Come on. Alright. INT. JORDAN VALLEY ICE SKATING RINK-NIGHT Ben has taken Devon to a small ice rink that he has been coming to since he was a little boy. He flips the lights on. It s really run down, nothing compared to Scott Trade, but it s still perfect to skate on. Where are we? I come here to get away from it all. Just relax and skate, and remember how fun it used to be.

Used to be? Isn t it still fun? Well it was, then people started expecting more and more out of me, then practices just became dull and even though we re winning and stuff, we re not really a bonded team. Well maybe you could do something like that. Have a team bonding night, where all you guys go hang out, and just have fun, you need one of those every once in a while. Yeah that s not a bad idea. Come on let s go. Ben walks onto the ice. Oh no you re not getting me out there. I ll slide all over the place. Come on don t be such a chicken. Devon (playfully): Did you just call me a chicken? Yeah (starts making chicken noises) Alright you asked for it. Devon rushes out on to the ice and tries to tackle him to the ground, but he picks her up off her feet and twirls her around. They both laugh. Now lets get to the good stuff. He walks over to the bench and grabs a hockey stick and a puck. Looks like you ve been here before? The old couple that own this place let me come in here whenever I want, so I just leave some stuff over here. Now consider this your first lesson in hockey. They walk over to one of the nets.

Now when you hold the stick put your hands here and here. He places them where they need to be on the stick. Ben cont.: Then gently slide the puck back and forth like you re playing with a boiled egg. This is so hard. You re doing good now when you re ready just shoot it at the net. Like this? She shoots but misses on purpose. No like this. He places his hands on hers. Their bodies mold perfectly. He helps her shoot the puck, and it goes in. I think we make a pretty good team. Yeah I think we do too. They kiss. Mr. Walker the owner walks in. He s mid 70 s, has a bit of a limp in his walk, scruffy voice. Walker: Hey who s down there? Oh Ben it s you (chuckles) Congratulations on tonight s win. Thank you Mr. Walker. Walker: Who s that pretty young thing down there with ya? I m Devon Taylor. Walker:

Oh the girl from that singing show? Yeah that s me. Walker: My wife voted for ya, she s just in love with those singing shows, don t ask me why though. Well you kids have a good night ya hear? You too Mr. Walker. (they both laugh) They start walking and both of them slip on the ice and fall. I told you INT- ARENA- AFTERNOON Ben is practicing with the team. Briceson and Horton are talking to themselves. Briceson: Hey, have you noticed anything different about Brayton? Horton: Yeah he seems more happy. Briceson: He looks like he s having fun out there. Ben is skating around shooting pucks with a smile on his face. Hey guys I want everyone to come to center. The team goes over, some more reluctant than others. Once they all get there Ben speaks. Findlay: Brayton what are you doing? Coach just give me a second. Look guys I know I haven t been the best leader on the team. I know that things can get pretty crazy with the paparazzi and news camera s, I just wanted to say I m sorry to any of the guys I ve offended or hurt in some way. I m not like that I promise. What I would like to do is have a team bonding night. We ll all just go out and have a good time. I think the best time to do it, is when we are in Edmonton next week on our road trip, that sound good guys?

All: Hell yeah! INT- ARENA- NIGHT Devon looks over at Marley. She s sitting there with a far off look in her eyes. Marley, you ve been awfully quiet? Marley: Yeah, I ve just been thinking. About? Marley: About me and Eric Is something going on with you guys? Marley: I m just starting to wonder if we ll work out? Of course you guys will work out. Marley: How do you know? Because you guys love each other, and I ve always wanted the kind of relationship you guys have, you ll make it work I know it. Marley: Thanks Dev. What would I do without you? You d be miserable. Marley: That s probably true. Blues Announcer V.O.

And now your St. Louis Blues!!! The crowd stands and cheers, the team enters and starts shooting at the net. Marley catches Devon looking longingly at Ben. Marley: You really like him don t you? Yeah I do. Announcer V.O.: All right fans it s the third period score is tied at 1-1, it looks like we might have to go into overtime. There s 12 seconds left on the clock. It s Briceson over to Madden to Brayton, he fakes goes left, he shoots scores!!! Ben Brayton has scored another goal. Is there anything this guy can t do? The team starts high-fiving as the crowd is ecstatic. The energy in the arena is so intense. INT.-LOCKER ROOM Devon is down in the locker room greeting Ben. Hey great game. (modestly) Thank you, I ve got something to tell you. What? We ve got a road trip coming up. How long is it? 2 weeks. 2 weeks? Yeah we got the long road trip this year.

Where s your first game at? We leave tomorrow for California. Eric: Hey we re heading out you guys coming with us? Nah we re going to head back to my place. I m pretty wiped. (Devon looks at him curiously) Eric: Alright catch you guys later Bye. Marley: Bye guys. You re place huh? Of course It s about time I showed you it. (sarcastic) Mhmm ok. Come on lets go. INT-BEN S APARTMENT-NIGHT Ben s place is a huge condo apartment, it looks like the first floor of a house. There is a bar style kitchen, a couch, a huge TV sitting on the floor, a room straight in front, and a hallway that leads to another room and the bathroom. There is also a balcony with doors that lead onto the terrace. Like the room from Pretty Woman. It also has a fireplace. (shocked) Wow this is your place?

Yep isn t it great? This is amazing, you can even look out into the city. She heads out to the balcony, Ben arrives shortly thereafter. Yeah it s beautiful I come out here a lot. Why? To clear my head think for a while. Yeah this would be the best place, just sit out here and you get a pretty nice breeze. It s a little chilly isn t it? Yeah I am kind of cold. They head inside, the fire is going. Devon cont: This is much better. She wraps her arms around him and they kiss. Before this goes any farther (interrupts) You don t have to worry about a thing, I have it all under control. She continues to kiss him and they go into the bedroom. INT-BEN S BEDROOM-MORNING Devon is standing in the bathroom brushing her teeth. Ben wakes up and smiles at her standing there, she turns to look at him and smiles. (with toothpaste in her mouth) What?

(smiling) Nothing What? You look so adorable. Oh right. What was that? Shut up. She finishes brushing her teeth Devon cont: Hey you ve got to get up No, I refuse to. Come on you don t want to be late do you? (sarcastically) Of course not. He reluctantly gets up. He kisses her shoulder as he walks by and starts brushing his teeth. Ben cont: What are you gonna do today? Probably go into the studio and work on some new stuff. Sounds like fun.

Oh you know it will be, but not as fun as your day s gonna be. (finishes brushing his teeth) Oh right flying on a plane for several hours, being bored to death, sounds like heaven to me. It can t be all that bad, getting to travel all the time. Yeah but I don t get to be here. What s so special about here? Well there s a certain someone that makes it worth while. Oh? And who would that be? I think you know her. Hmm, What s she like? She s smart, very beautiful, a great singer, she s funny, you know she looks a little like you? Really? But I m prettier right? Hmm. Devon slaps him on the shoulder Ben cont: Of course you are! They kiss Ok we have to get going. Ben (reluctantly): Alright fine you gonna watch tonight?

I wouldn t miss it. INT- STUDIO- EARLY MORNING- 1 WEEK LATER Devon is writing a new song in G major, she looks tired and is wearing her glasses, she hears the door open and finds Finn coming in. Finn? (Finn is spooked by hearing Devon) Devon? What are you doing here? I should ask you the same question? I wanted to come in to write some stuff I couldn t sleep. Me either. It s hard being alone isn t it? You can say that again. You working on something? Yeah I m trying to finish one now. I d love to hear it. Really? Of course. He walks to the side of her and goes to where she has been writing

I don t know where go from here? Let me see if I can help. INT-STUDIO- MORNING Devon asleep on Finn s shoulder, he is smiling, then R.J. comes in out of breath. R.J.: Devon, Devon! Devon wakes up and realizes that she is on Finn, she immediately gets up and rubs her eyes. What is it R.J.? R.J.: You need to see this. (He has her follow him to the foyer, where he turns on the TV to channel 3 news where there is a blonde reporting.) Gennia Weight: And we re back with breaking news about Ben Brayton the hockey superstar who plays for the St. Louis Blues. One of our camera men caught up with Ben Brayton coming out a bar in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Ben is overly drunk. He has a woman with him. She is pencil thin, blonde, and drunk as well. News man: Ben, Ben who is this with you? (slurring) This is my friend Joyce. News man: Where s Devon? Who s Devon? (hiccups) Oh yeah Devon, my.m..my girlfriend, she s back at home doing God knows what, and I m here enjoying this lovely Corona, and this lovely woman. He takes a swig of his beer and then kisses Joyce. Devon looks away in disgust, she is about to

have tears fall down her face. Get out of here man, leave me alone. Gennia: What will Devon Taylor think of all of her boyfriend s promiscuous behavior in Canada? Only time will tell. I m Gennia Weight with St. Louis Channel 3 eye witness news. Devon takes the controller from R.J. s hands, turns the t.v. off and throws the controller against the wall, it breaks. (in tears) How could he do this to me? R.J. and Finn are silent, Devon runs to the bathroom, locks the door, and sits in front of it. Finn sits on the other side of the door and goes to comfort her. Devon? Devon are you ok? Devon I m sorry. It s not your fault Finn, it s mine. I should have never trusted him. It s not your fault, you didn t know he was going to do that to you. But I should have figured that it would ve happened. Come on Devon, you don t need to be in there. Devon realizes that he s right, she unlocks the door, stands up, and hugs Finn. What would I do without you Finn? I m sure you d be fine. Thank you. Do I need to take you home?

No I can make it R.J. can I R.J.: You don t even have to ask, get some rest and we ll see how you are tomorrow (smiles) Thanks.. I ll see you guys soon. INT-DEVON S BEDROOM-NIGHT Devon is moping in her bed, her eyes are red from crying, there are tissues everywhere, and empty tubs of icing on the little tables next to her. Patsy Cline is playing in the background. Devon starts singing along with Your Cheatin Heart. She looks at her phone, she has 5 missed calls. 2 are from Finn and 3 are from Marley. She decides to call Marley. Marley: Devon? Hey Marley (she sniffs) Marley: I saw what happened today, I m so sorry, but didn t I tell you he liked to drink and party? Yes, you did. I should have listened to you. Marley: You should have, I m sorry. No don t be I ve been through enough heart ache in my life that a cheating boyfriend seems to fit. Marley: Yeah with your father leaving, and your mother dying and now Ben, do I need to come over there? No, I ve got my good friends, Patsy and Mr. Smirnoff to keep me company. Marley: You should get out, go somewhere.

I don t think I physically can. Marley: Well don t drink too much you don t want to make yourself sick like last time. You re right, I ll try to stop, I think I m almost out anyway. It was good to talk to you Marley. Marley: You too Devon, if you need anything let me know ok? Ok. Marley: All right, bye Dev. Bye. Devon turns Patsy back up louder and now the song is Crazy. INT-DEVON S APARTMENT Marley walks in through the door and she is carrying a Wal-Mart bag. She can hear Patsy Cline blasting through the door. Marley: Devon? Devon? Hey Bing. (She pets the gray and white cat.) She walks into Devon s room and is appalled. Devon is asleep amongst hundreds of tissues, several tubs of icing, and lots of Smirnoff bottles. Patsy is loudly singing I Fall To Pieces Marley: Oh My God, Devon! Marley turns off Patsy and Devon immediately sits up Hey Patsy was singing! Marley: Patsy has been singing her songs for way too long, she can fall to pieces another time, as for you, you need to get out of this Frickin bed. How can you live in this?

Well I haven t exactly had time to clean. Marley: Being your only and best friend I can t allow you to live this way. I want you to get up and take a shower. Then we ll get started on this filth. She throws the covers off of Devon. Devon reluctantly gets up and stumbles to the shower. As she takes a shower, Marley begins cleaning, she pulls gloves out of the Wal-Mart bag and starts putting the tissues and tubs into the trash. INT-DEVON S LIVING ROOM What do I do? Marley: What do you mean? When Ben comes back? Marley: I ve told Eric to have Ben stay away from you, and if he tries to confront you, I ll just have my security arrest him. Devon looks at her like she s insane. Marley: Just kidding, lighten up. Devon smiles a little. Marley cont: I knew there was a smile in there. I should probably go into the studio today. Marley: That would be a good idea, do you want me to drive you? No, I think I can handle it. Marley: Ok, lets hit the road then.

INT- STUDIO (singing, it s a ballad) As she s singing black and white images of Ben and Devon roll on the screen. All the times they ve laughed and hugged, and were happy. Snow falls on the city White on White It s the color of hope On an unforgiving night You kissed me into ruins Sin on Sin Now I ve got to love you love letters Written on my skin I can t tell the stars from the downtown lights It s I said I was truly over you My heart would say amen But I d given in to the cold caress of 2 am If I admit I can t get used to this Will my heart break again? As I fall into the waiting arms of 2 am You finished it? Yeah, I finally got the time too. I m glad to see you re feeling better. I just needed some time, plus Patsy helped a bit. Patsy? It s a girl thing. R.J.: Gemma loved them, she sent them to the radio stations. They ll be playing in rotation fairly

shortly. Great. INT-BLUES BUS-NIGHT Ben is sitting on the bus looking out the window. He is the front of the bus. Eric is sitting next to him. Ben has gone through over and over again what he was going to say to Devon when he got back. Should I say I m sorry, and then beg for forgiveness, or should I beg for forgiveness and then say I m sorry or Eric: I told you not to get drunk that night, why didn t you listen to me? I don t know, I was being stupid. It was my idea to take the guys out, I just wanted everyone to have fun. Eric: Yeah, but it cost you your relationship with Devon. I think you need to explain what happened then you need to say you re sorry and beg for forgiveness. You know what Marley said. I know (imitating Marley) If you try to confront her I ll get my Frickin security after you, but I don t think I could go another minute without seeing or talking to her, she needs to hear the story from me. Eric: She s listening to Patsy man. What does that mean? Eric: Patsy is every girls sad music. Patsy is the goddess of sad and tragic love, she knows man she knows. I can t believe I screwed everything up, I love her man. Eric: You might want to mention that to her.

I do love her, do you think she ll forgive me? Eric: Not very easily, Devon seems pretty stubborn. (sarcastically) Thanks dude. Eric: Listen, if Devon loves you, she ll forgive you in time, but you have to be willing to give her the time, and don t lie to her, tell her the truth about Joyce. Ben hears BJ, the DJ, on the radio Mack turn it up BJ V.O.: What s up my homie s it s BJ the DJ here, The question on everyone s mind is, is Devon Taylor going to forgive Ben Brayton for cheating on her? On our home page we got a poll, should Devon forgive Ben for his dirty little deed or should she kick him to the curb? Speaking of Devon Taylor, I just got hit with her new single 2 am, it s da bomb ya ll, give it a listen Eric: How are you holding up? I need to see her. Even if it s for the last time, I still have to see her. INT-G MAJOR LOUNGE- DAY Devon and Finn are playing cards. Speed! (She slams her hands on the cards) How do you do that? Years of practice. Hopefully I ll beat you one day.

I highly doubt that. R.J. walks in thrilled. R.J.: Who is a genius? Well I would say myself, but we all know this. R.J.: I was talking about myself. We all know that Finn is going on tour. Well I found someone to open for him. Who? R.J.: Devon! Me? R.J.: It s perfect, you both get along so well, Devon needs a tour, Finn needs a opener. This would be great publicity for you both. What s the schedule like? R.J.: 50 cities in 3 months. We go to Tulsa, Oklahoma first and New York is our last. What d do you say? Devon will you go on tour with me? I d love to. (smiles) INT-G MAJOR LOUNGE- 3 DAYS LATER-AFTERNOON Devon is sitting in G major and is writing another song. This is going to be great. Just me and you on tour. It ll be so much fun.

It does sound pretty exciting. I have to start putting my things on the bus, I ll come back in and I ll get your things. Ok. She hears the door close. A few seconds later she hears it open again. Did you forget something? She turns around and sees Ben. She s awestruck, his hair is messy and he looks very nervous. She just stares at him in disbelief that he was in front of her. Yeah I did actually. She blinks as he tries to make a move towards her, she turns and runs to the bathroom. Devon? Devon? (slamming and locking of the door) Devon Go away! Please just talk to me. NO! Devon please come out of there. (yelling) Why should I? Please, let me explain. There s nothing to explain I saw you with her. (pleading)

No you ve got it all wrong. Just go Ben! Fine I m out of here. Fine! Fine! Fine! It s a few minutes later, Devon opens the door, realizing that he might have just gone, but she figured that he was too determined to talk to her. He is sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. Devon regains her strength and goes to sit next to him. Ben is shocked when she does. There are tears in his eyes. Ben? I tried to figure out what I was going to say to you, but, the only thing I can think to say is that I m sorry. Ben look No, I need to say this. I m so sorry, I can t even begin to tell you how sorry I am, I feel like such a jack ass and I know I need to give you space and I know that I need to give you time, but I Time and space are the last things I need, I just need to hear the truth, from you (takes a deep breath) I did get drunk that night. (She looks fearful) What about Joyce?

(hesitates) I didn t do anything with her. You promise? She sticks out her pinky. Promise. He grabs her pinky with his as Devon hugs him, a couple tears falling. (whispering) Devon, I love you What? I said I love you. (slowly) You love me? So much, Devon, can you ever find it in your heart to forgive me? (pauses) I do, I have She looks up at him with teary eyes, and a smile. Ben goes in to kiss her, but is interrupted by Finn. Finn clears his throat and they both look at him. The bus is ready for loading Devon. Thanks Finn. What bus? You haven t told him?

Told me what? I m going on tour, with Finn. When? Tomorrow. So soon? Yeah, I just found out 3 days ago. How long is it for? A little over 3 months, we re covering the west coast first, then heading back towards the east. We start in Tulsa tomorrow. Wow. I wasn t expecting you to go on tour yet. Me either, but I have to go it s what I m supposed to do, it s my job. I ll have Chase load up your things. Thanks Finn. I ve messed up pretty badly, what can I do to make it up to you? I have two things. (sarcastically) Oh no.

Never and I mean never do that to me again. If you do, you ll never hear or see me again. I swear I ll never do that to you ever again. And you have to promise that you will always tell me the truth. I promise. They hug, Ben looks disappointed in himself for lying to her about Joyce, but Devon doesn t notice. INT- BEN S BEDROOM MORNING We can hear Devon in the kitchen humming a tune. Ben is having a nightmare. *In dream* An unknown blonde girl is talking to Ben in a car Are you going to keep looking at it forever Sarah? Sarah: (looking at her engagement ring) Of course I will, I ll look at it forever and ever. Then there are two bright lights Sara cont.: Ben look out! Ben wakes up, he s sweating. Sarah!! Devon runs in from the kitchen. (concerned) Ben, Ben what s wrong? Are you ok? She feels his forehead, she has a towel in her hand from the kitchen, she starts to wipe the sweat off. Ben is breathing heavy.

I m fine. Who s Sarah? What? You just screamed the name Sarah? Was that the girl in your dream? (He looks shaken up) Yeah, yeah it was. Ben takes a deep breath. Ben cont.: Devon, I don t want to lose you. You won t I m right here ok? I m right here. EXT- G MAJOR- AFTERNOON Devon is saying goodbye to Ben in front of the tour bus. Are you sure you re ok? Yeah I m fine. So I ll see you in New York, in 3 months? Yes and I promise you won t be seeing my face on the t.v. unless I make the winning goal. I m gonna miss you. Same for me. R.J.: Lets head out Devon?

I better go. I hope these 3 months go by fast. They kiss and Devon heads on the bus, she blows him a kiss and he puts it in his pocket. Devon smiles as the door closes. Ben waves as the bus heads out of sight. INT-TOUR BUS R.J.: All right here s the rundown on Tulsa, Devon you ll perform your songs then Finn, then the duets ok? Sounds good R.J. R.J.: Wardrobe and make-up will be the first, Devon you ll have 30 minutes before you ll be on stage so that should give you time to warm-up and all that. Alright. R.J.: Here s the song order, learn it, live it, love it. Sure thing R.J. R.J.: And don t stay up too late, I do need my beauty rest. What us never? Devon gets up from the booth seat next to the window, and walks around the bus. There were two bunk beds, the bathroom right across from it, and R.J. had a room in the back. There was sink, and a whole storage full of food. Devon was liking this set-up a lot. Devon wakes up from her nap and she looks out to see the city of Tulsa. She grabs a bowl of cereal and stands over the sink, like she normally does. She looks over to see the theatre. Whoa is that where we re singing?

Yep the Dickenson State Wide 20 theatre. R.J.: I just got word from Disney, that they want you two to sing a song for their new movie soundtrack. Really? What movie? R.J.: They re doing a remake of Pocahontas. That s awesome. R.J.: Perfect you guys will do it tonight alright? Devon and Yeah. Wow a real Disney movie. I ve sang for them a couple times, they re really nice people. It s like a dream. Only better. INT- THEATRE Devon is on the stage imagining thousands of her fans out there hearing her sing. It s incredible isn t it? Yeah, I can t wait to have my fans out there right in front of me. It s definitely a rush (He smiles) You nervous?

A little, but I ll be fine. R.J.: (commanding) Devon, lets get into dress and make-up, Finn warm up. See ya. Later. INT-DRESSING ROOM Hey good luck out there. Thanks Finn, that means a lot to me. Of course what are friends for? R.J.: Devon it s show time. INT-STAGE-NIGHT Devon walks out she hears the crowd roaring, she is going on the platform where she will be rise into the stage. (deep breath) What s up Tulsa? How are ya tonight? INT-ARENA Eric: Dude you re off your game tonight, is it because Devon left today? No, it s just I lied to her. Eric: About?

Joyce. Eric: You didn t tell Devon that you slept with Joyce? I thought she would be better off not knowing. Eric: Dude you re screwed man. What do you mean? Eric: Lying is never good especially when it comes to sex. So you think I should have told her? (Eric gives him a duh look) INT-STAGE- Thank you Thank you, lets welcome back out Devon Taylor!! Devon runs back out onto the stage, the crowd is cheering loudly. Devon, what song shall we sing first? I don t know Finn, what should we sing first? How about torn apart? Hit it guys. INT-BEN S APARTMENT-NIGHT Ben is sitting alone at home, he has bought a new dog, it s a Dalmatian, his name is Dodger. Dodger, should I call and tell her the truth?

Dodger looks up at him like he is saying yes. Ben cont: She should know the truth right? Dodger wags his tail. Ben cont.: But I don t want her to leave me, so I won t tell her, what she doesn t know won t hurt her right? Dodger wines and lays his head down. INT-STAGE Devon and Finn are finishing up the concert. Alright that s just about it for us guys. But we have one more song for you. Devon and I will be singing a duet for the soundtrack from the new Pocahontas coming out next summer. Both: (singing) If I never knew you, if I never felt this love I would have no inkling of how precious life can be If I never knew you. Finn kisses her, it s short, the crowd loves it, they are cheering and yelling. We ve got to get out of here, hope to see you all in Houston. (stunned) Bye everyone. She can t even look at Finn she is so shocked. She grabs her bag and heads to the bus. EXT-OUTSIDE THEATRE R.J. walks out with her. There are tons of fans waiting for Devon s autograph.

R.J.: What was that all about? I don t know R.J., talk to Finn about it. R.J.: Well since your little kiss, I have press calling and asking if it s part of the show or a real kiss. (agitated) What do you want me to tell you? R.J.: Tell me what it was. Just tell them it was part of the show ok, it doesn t mean anything. INT-BUS She walks onto the bus, Chase shuts the door. Chase: You ok Devon? Yes, I m fine Chase thanks. (She sets her stuff on her bed) Chase: I ll leave you alone for a little bit, I have to check on something. (Devon hears someone getting on.) I don t want to talk about it R.J. I told him the same thing. Devon doesn t respond she looks, then turns around. Finn cont: Devon I m sorry. (Devon continues to unpack)
