1 - Act 2, Scene 1 1. State whether the following statements are true or false. Romeo was feeling depressed because he had to leave Juliet at the end of Act 1. Romeo wanted to be left alone so he hid in the cellar. Romeo's friends, Benvolio and Mercutio, went looking for him after the party. Mercutio ridiculed Romeo's feelings of romantic love, as Mercutio believes more in physical love. Romeo could hear everything that his friends were saying about him from his hiding place. 1
