Uncommon Knowledge Ltd Queens Building, 8 George Street, Oban PA34 5SB United Kingdom Design by Kathleen Fedouloff +44 (0) kfedouloff@gmail.com About The Script Collection The Script Collection is a resource for professional and trainee hypnotherapists. Scripts are useful as a source of ideas and approaches which can be adapted to suit the needs of individual clients. We do not recommend that scripts are read verbatim. The design of The Script Collection has been specially devised to enhance the benefits of this resource. Ample space is provided where you may write your own notes, comments and adaptations. A number of special conventions have been adopted to make the scripts easy to use and study. The first part of each script, in which the therapist is preparing the ground for the trance work to follow, is formatted as standard prose, and is intended to be delivered with normal tone and pace. The trance script that follows is formatted so that line breaks mark suggested phrasing and pacing. Silences play an important part in trance work, and pause markers indicate different lengths of pause as appropriate. Each coloured block indicates approximately 10 seconds. Examples: nn [approx 10 seconds] [approx 30 seconds] Words and phrases requiring special emphasis are marked in bold text with a highlighted background. Example: your unconscious mind takes care of things in that time Studying the content and structure of these highlighted phrases will be particularly helpful to the therapist who wishes to develop their own skill in devising helpful suggestions.
Monday morning blues For some people, Monday morning blues start on Sunday evening. It s as if a shadow is cast on the last evening of your weekend, made up of grim thoughts of having to haul yourself out of bed in the morning and drag yourself to work, and how very far away the next weekend seems. For others, it s that moment when the alarm goes off, and you open your eyes and a sinking feeling hits the pit of your stomach as you realise Monday has come around again. Having this kind of attitude towards your working week can make work feel like a prison, where you are chalking up how many more days you have to serve until you are released. Now, if you have sound reasons for disliking your job or your work environment, it s not surprising that you don t look forward to going to work, and it may be time for you to consider looking for a more fulfilling career. But many people who actually quite enjoy their work still have this automatic, knee-jerk dislike of Mondays. This may be because they didn t enjoy going to school as a child, and were always longing for the weekend or the summer holidays to begin. And they ve carried this attitude on into their adult life. And these days it s become something of a social convention to moan and groan about Mondays. So it may be that your attitude towards Mondays is nothing more than cultural conditioning. After all, having seven days in a week is an arbitrary, human invention. Animals don t know what day of the week it is, and most people through most of human history didn t know either. Now you can accept this attitude towards Mondays, go along with the herd and feel dutifully glum every Sunday evening, or you can realise that much of life has whatever meaning we give it. As Shakespeare famously wrote, There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. So this session is about learning to give Monday a new meaning for you, so that you start to instinctively feel more enthusiastic, cheerful and light-hearted about starting work each week. As you listen repeatedly to this session, you ll start to instinctively remember all the satisfaction and fulfilment that a good day at work can bring you, and create a new, positive expectation that Monday is going to be a great day because why shouldn t it be? HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n1
Now if you haven t yet closed those eyes you can do that right now and really set time aside to learn to forget about time to forget about clocks and calendars and simply be present with reality as it is right now as you notice the position of those hands those feet the sensation of whatever it is you re resting on the sound of these words and the spaces between the words and there might be thoughts drifting through that mind thoughts about the ideas I ve just been talking about or thoughts about other things and that s fine and as you relax deeper and deeper over the course of the next few minutes you can notice how those conscious thoughts begin to slow down as you make the space inside to absorb things on a deeper level and you can begin to do that right now by taking a slow deep breath breathing all the way in now and then just let the air out very slowly and smoothly like a wonderfully relaxing sigh as you let go inside HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n2
And when you breathe slowly and deeply like that it sends that body a very powerful unconscious message that here and now all is well that it s safe to relax and let go and you might like to take several more slower deeper breaths and allow each exhale to be longer and smoother luxuriating in that feeling of what it s like to sigh with comfort And you know what a ticking clock sounds like as the second hand ticks its way slowly around the clock face counting out the seconds that become minutes that become hours that become days and as you remember the regular tick tock of a clock I d like you to notice the sound of that ticking right now in your mind beginning to slow down as the spaces between each tick between each tock widen lengthen HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n3
And as you continue to breathe in and out as I talk you can just notice how the muscles of that body have begun to relax as those facial muscles smooth out and soften as the muscles of the jaw and the neck loosen as the shoulders relax and a soothingly comfortable heaviness begins to spread all the way down those arms a restful sleepy heaviness in the arms a restful sleepy heaviness in the hands a restful sleepy heaviness in the fingertips because that body can honestly rest and that conscious mind can quietly drift and dream as you become more unconsciously absorbed in the reality of making changes at a deep instinctive level now And before you relax all the way down I d like you to entertain the idea for a moment that whatever time of day it is whatever day of the week it is whatever time of year it is according to calendars and clocks it is in fact always now because now is all there ever is HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n4
and you can form memories of the past and make predictions of the future you can learn to read a calendar and the position of the hands on a clock but all of those names and numbers all of that remembering and predicting only ever happens now and throughout the journey of your life it has always been now because now is not a thin sliver of time now is not a microsecond now is a vast spacious eternity within which all the events of life happen and as that tick and that tock of that inner clock slows right down slower and slower still slowing all the way down to simple restful silence you can notice that whether you re drifting off to sleep at night or waking up in the morning whether you are busily engaged in an activity at work or chatting with friends at a party it is always now HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n5
And as you open up time and space inside to relax all the way down into comfort now you can really prepare to let go of that out of date unhelpful attitude about Mondays and it might be that some of your colleagues are always grumbling about Mondays or it might be that when you were at school you sometimes longed for the weekend and didn t like having to go to school on a Monday but this is your life and the idea that when the calendar shows certain days you have to feel some prescribed way and when it shows other days you have to feel some other way is absurd it steals away the enjoyment of life that could be yours it taints your weekends with gloom and dread it forces you into starting the week on a negative note it brainwashes you into feeling bad even when you actually like your job and here and now as you look back on all the memories you ve got of having that old dislike of Mondays seeing yourself in past times back there dutifully hanging your head and sighing all those different moments when your enjoyment and engagement with life was stolen from you by that old attitude towards Mondays you can really begin to rebel against that attitude to take command of your own life and decide that enough is enough and for you now HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n6
Mondays are going to take on a whole new meaning that you re going to associate them with cheerfulness with opportunity with a fresh start to the week because it s your life and you can give things whatever meaning you want And your unconscious mind knows exactly how you feel when you ve worked hard and really had a good day at work where you can feel fulfilled and proud of yourself one of those days when things really go your way and you have enjoyable interactions with your colleagues perhaps you succeed at some project or perhaps you become so absorbed and focused in your work that time flies by and it can really feel very good to have had a rewarding day at work And you know what it s like to feel excited about something in the future to wait with eager anticipation perhaps for a new book or a new movie to come out or a new episode of a TV program or a new gadget sometimes it s a vacation or a trip somewhere sometimes it might be just knowing you ll be going to a great party in a couple of days where you ll meet up with some old friends and I d like you to really get in touch with that feeling of something wonderful being about to happen of really looking forward to something and feeling a brightening excitement begin to illuminate the future HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n7
a tingling anticipation that can feel very good And your unconscious mind can begin to strongly connect all the good and rewarding aspects of your work the fulfilment you feel after a good day at work with this tingling excited anticipation now of knowing that each week you get a fresh opportunity to stroll into your workplace with a smile on your face to have a friendly exchange with your colleagues and really feel good as you do so because Monday can be a fun day and a fun way of reminding yourself that this is your life and you can choose what meaning you give to things so why not choose the most fun the most fulfilling the most rewarding meanings that make life so much more enjoyable and light-hearted so that you can smile and work with honest eagerness and enthusiasm and really enjoy a contented sigh when you re done And I d like you to notice a future you on a Sunday evening some time in the future and just notice how that you over there has had a good weekend and how they re thinking about Monday in a new way how Monday looks brighter in their mind HypnosisDownloads.com Scripts Monday Blues n8
filled with opportunity and fulfilment a brand new week all yours to begin and you can just notice what it s going to be like to wake up on Monday morning and realise that it s now that you re alive in this very moment and this particular day is never coming back again so why not make the very most of it and your unconscious mind can release a powerful wave of tingling anticipation and enthusiasm through your body as you begin your day with a smile and a real spring in your step And you can listen to this session often so you can deepen this enjoyment and excitement about beginning a new week in your life each time that you do so and for now you can begin to feel more alert and refreshed and prepare to come all the way back with a real sense of refreshment and good feeling by noticing the position of your body and the sensation of whatever it is you re resting on and then whenever you re ready you can just have a nice stretch and open your eyes.
