Happy Birthday William! I m four. I got lots and lots of presents. A Godzilla and it takes the money! And a rainbow cake with blue and green. Mummy brings cupcakes with Sofia. Dear William, Happy Birthday! We hope you enjoyed all the fes9vi9es and fun. From your friends in the Eucalyptus Room
Discussing Indigenous Art Together we discussed several different prints of Indigenous Australian artwork. Abbey Oscar Elektra Lachlan That s a funny one. All of them are funny. Because they ve got funny dots on them and circles. It s got a shape. They go round and round and round in circles. We asked the children what the words indigenous or aboriginal might mean. No-one put forth any ideas so we explained about the origins of Australia s first people. We spoke about how they didn t live in houses nor did they have shops to buy paint or food from Gwen Lachlan Oscar I think I heard it at a place where there are animals. I saw a tent made of leaves and I saw that on my holidays. They could eat foxes. I ve got something to say - I don t eat foxes or owls or snakes. I would get sick. What could they have used to make these paintings? Hunter I don t know. William Q Pencils. Scarlett Pencils. Amelia I don t know. Abbey Use a leaf? Frankie If you don t have paint brushes you could use your hands. Ella Feathers. William Q Seeds. Elektra I planted seeds in Bunnings. Gwen I was actually going to say sticks. Let s look at all the colours, what can you see? All Red, white, yellow, grey, black, brown and oranges. Abbey They would find different paint in the bush from a dripping jar. Hugo They could make some with flour. Frankie Or glue. Oscar Sand. Lachlan That looks like mustard and tomato sauce. I like that on a hot dog - that could be delicious. We have since been encouraging the children to create paintings using dots Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework Outcome 2 - Children are connected with and contribute to their world Children broaden their understanding of the world in which they live.
A Parade of Books! As part of National Book Week we celebrated the many diverse and wonderful books we love through a parade in the ELC Gallery and sharing our favourite stories. Many different characters were represented including a pirate, a dragon and a koala. Thanks to all our parents and children for all you did in creating wonderful costumes, it made the day a big celebration filled with laughter and excitement.
Reflecting on Book Week Gwen: Puff the Magic Dragon. It blows out fire. Jackie Paper play together. Scarlett: Snow White. In the books it s called a Princess and a magic mirror. She throws the water on the step. Snow White has a magic apple. It turns into magic. Teagan: I was Pinkalicious. She turns pink from eating all the pink cupcakes. Ella: My Mummy made mine, made the fluff. I was Koala Lou. Hugo: I was the Gruffalo. My Mummy buyed it. [I had] claws, terrible teeth, terrible wart on his nose. Frankie: Cinderella. Mummy read it. It turns into a teacher - the boys and the girls find a lady and then the boy and girl find some treasure. Isla: Tinkerbell. She goes in the snow and a mirror. She can fly. Oscar: I was Redbeard the pirate! He drives the ship, I m gonna make one.
William Q: Storm Trooper. It s a bad guy from Star Wars, they try to catch good guys. Abbey: I made a broom for Room on the Broom. I buyed a lot of it. We buyed the hat, the wand and the sitting bit of the broom stick. The sticks came from the tree. I used some string and then we sticky-taped it and that s all. Elektra: I was dressed up as a princess. It s called I want to hop in a hot air balloon. In the sky it rocked and spun. Thing 1 By Hunter Amelia: Angelina Ballerina. Because I like the book of it. She s a little mouse. Kennedy: The Cat in the Hat. A bow and a hat and gloves. He s a cheeky cat, he just mess the house up.
