The sound of it drones. It s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash of the cymbals sounds that say listen to this, it is important. _Gary Provost

45 Choose the Right Stories! Be Strategic.. Problem/Solution Story Walk people through the problem you went through, paint a vivid picture of exactly how your product/service solved the problem. Historical Connection Story Tell a story of how your product or service is related to an ancient custom, has an historical connection. Magical/Interesting Story about how your product/ service has 'magical' qualities, something mysterious about it, or an interesting/ valuable message or moral.

46 What People Get Wrong About Stories... Wrong Emotional Turning Point You are telling the right story, but emphasizing the wrong points or not recognizing the emotional pivot points. Wrong Timing You re telling a great story, but it s the wrong one for the point you are trying to make and would be better told elsewhere. Not Edgy /Interesting It s a great story, but it s not being told with emotional language. Too many details are added, tone is boring.
