2 Subject-Verb Agreement Subject: person, place or thing in the sentence doing an action. The verb is an action word in a sentence. Subject-verb agreement means that the form of a noun should match the form of the verb. Read the sentences. Use the HINT to identify the singular and plural subjects and verbs. A hurricane spins wild winds. Hurricanes form over oceans. HINT: Notice that the first sentence has a singular subject and the verb ends with s. The second sentence has a plural subject and the verb soes not end in s. Read this passage. As you read, underline words that are subjects and verbs. Most people stops to admire a rainbow.
