Dear Children, Summer Vacation is synonymous with fun and frolic, going for picnics, playing for long hours, exploring new places and much more.but, dear children, there is a lot more you can do to make your vacation more interesting and fruitful. We have planned some interesting activities for you. So get ready to enjoy your summer vacation! Here is an ACTIVITY TREASURE BOX for you. All the best and have FUN! When the school reopens bring back your TREASURE, To go through it will be a PLEASURE! Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember Involve me and I learn.
2 MONUMENTS:OUR PRIDE AND HERITAGE Monumental heritage is more than financial heritage; preserve it for future generations! General Instructions- Parents can be the facilitators for the child at home but let the child complete his work independently and in his own handwriting. They can help the child if he/she needs any. Creativity and originality of work will be appreciated. All the work to be done on coloured A4 size sheets. Students shall bring it in separate folders for the respective subjects. ENGLISH Books indeed are our best friends... Include the following in A4 coloured sheets folder- 1. Read any one of the famous books by Roald Dahl/Ruskin Bond On page 1 Make a beautiful creative cover page. On page 2-Write the following- 1. Name of the story 2. Author 3. Publisher On page 3 Write the name of the characters and which one is your favourite? On page 4-Write a short summary (8-10 lines)
3 OR Describe a favourite scene from the story in your own words in about 8-10 lines. Write 10 new words that you will find while reading. Write their meanings and frame a sentence with each word. 2. Let s improve our handwriting Do cursive writing pages of book from pgs Visit any famous monument like Rail museum, Qutub Minar, Nehru Planetarium etc and write a paragraph on your experience in about 8-10 lines. Encircle the proper nouns and underline the common nouns too. Click pictures of your visit and make a colourful attractive collage on an A4 size sheet. 4. Choose a topic of your choice and write an article, a story, a poem, riddles (any 2) for school magazine. Don t copy from Google. 5. Please encourage your child to converse in English and read in the same too. Here are a few sites you can use to encourage your child to read from Revise July UT 2 syllabus. MATHEMATICS 1. Plan a visit to any two tourist places like Rail museum, Qutub Minar, Nehru Planetarium etc along with your family and work out the total expense for each trip. You can include the following expenses: Cost of travelling Sightseeing expenses(entry fee) Expenditure on shopping Money spent on refreshment Other expenses TOTAL
4 What will be the total expenditure of the trip? Arrange the expenditure against each subhead in ascending order. Write the cost of travelling in word form and total expenditure in expanded form. (Paste the pictures of tourist places also) 2. Make a laminated table mat on A4 size sheet. (tables 2 to 12) 3. Give one week s schedule of your daily routine. Write time in words as well as in figures and your time should reflect the words half past, quarter past, quarter to. For eg. I got up at 6:45 am or Quarter to seven. 4. Make a clock on A3 size cardboard as shown in the image. O clock Quarter To Quarter Past Half Past
5 5. Make a game on A4 size card board as shown in the image. You can take numbers on your own. INSTRUCTIONS: Two players are required If the answer is correct then they will move to the next box by counting the no. on the dice. If the answer is wrong, then the player will move one step backward. 7 Parents are requested to help students to develop the following basic conversational skills. The teachers are trying to encourage the children to use simple words, phrases and sentences like:- May I go to play? May I borrow your pencil / eraser / sharpener? I have finished my work. Madam, may I go to the washroom? Madam, may I go to drink water? Madam, may I come in please? Madam, may I go to wash my hands? Madam, may I sit in the front row as I can t see from the back. Madam, please repeat the concept as I m unable to understand it. Madam, I have lost my shoes / blazer / tiffin box / water bottle etc. Madam, I was absent as I missed my bus. Madam, I m sorry. I have forgotten to bring my book, note book, pencil / eraser / drawing booketc. Madam, I m sorry I couldn t complete my Home Work. Madam, may I borrow a pencil / eraser / ruler etc. from my partner as I ve forgotten to bring it today. Could you please shut the door. Use of magic words like excuse me, sorry, thanks, please. o When asking for something, say Please. o When receiving something, say Thank you. o Do not interrupt grown-ups who are speaking with each other unless there is an emergency. o If you need to get somebody's attention right away, use the phrase Excuse me. o When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. o When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents. o Knock on the door before entering. Children can be encouraged to use simple words and sentences at home also.
