What a fantastic Saturday afternoon! 130 guests, friends and family! Filled to capacity with SRO! Congratulations to Mark Jantzen, event chairman, for putting this wonderful event together! The afternoon s festivities started off with the GVC singing the first set of four songs, under the direction of Bruce Sellnow. In between the sets the quartets performed. The first quartet was from Ripon High School. The second quartet, Just for Kicks, was from Milpitas High School. They were the 2016 Novice Quartet Champions. My Wild Irish Rose was sung, with individual parts as a demonstration, by Howard Barber, Chuck Roots, Mike Viss and Greg Kramp. Howard Barber led everyone in a sing-along; Howard and Betty Barber, together with Buz and Florine Smith, entertained the audience with Sweet Violets. The following four people assisted with the serving of ice cream: Lexi, Scott Hutchinson, Dave Wallace and Pete Sust. GVC Heritage Society honored three of its members for 50+ years of Barbershop Harmony Society membership, FWD: BILL CALE, BUZ SMITH and MILES SUTTER. Bob Chapman and Bruce Sellnow set up the sound system with Lexi at the controls. Greg DeMers and Stratt Riggs were in charge of the raffle ticket sales with Florine and Greg in charge of the raffle ticket drawing. Cece Verver and Linda Sust greeted the people and handled ticket sales. Many thanks to Florine Smith for being our MC this afternoon. From Your Director Thanks again for a GREAT performance at our Ice Cream Social! The crowd sure seemed to enjoy the day and all the hard work by MARC JANTZEN sure reaped some dividends! It was also nice to need 4 risers! There are SO MANY benefits to having more singers, and a great chorus sound is definitely high on the list!

Which is strange, given that the baseball great was a lefty. A bowling pin need only tilt 7.5 degrees in order to fall dow. Richard Nixon was an avid - and accomplished -- bowler.

Linda went to my Doctor, worried about my temper. The Doctor asked : "What's the problem? Linda said: "Doctor, I don't know what to do. Every day my husband seems to lose his temper for no reason. It scares me." The Doctor says : "I have a cure for that. When it seems that your husband is getting angry, just take a glass of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don't swallow it until he either leaves the room or calms down. Two weeks later Linda returned to the doctor looking fresh and reborn She said : "Doctor, that was a brilliant idea! Every time my husband started losing it, I swished with water. I swished and swished, and he calmed right down! How does a glass of water do that?" The Doctor said : "The water itself does nothing. It's keeping your mouth shut that does the trick."
