Dispatcher: Where is the person that was stabbed? Caller: Uh right here in the men s department by the fitting room. Dispatcher: Ok hold on just a second. Hey Cathy Bloomington can I get you to start for a stabbing at the Mall of America, Macy s store, 4000 Southwest Court. Ok. Level one men s department. That s all I ve right now. Dispatcher: Alright what s your name? Caller: Colleen. Dispatcher: Alright we re on the way Colleen. [Unintelligible] make yourself safe, we re on the way. Caller: I'm trying to hide. Dispatcher: Ok just stay quiet we ll be there in a minute ok? Caller: [Heavy breathing]. Dispatcher: Bloomington Caller: I'm calling uh we have an emergency at Macy s Mall of America on the first floor in young men s. Somebody s got a knife and stabbed somebody. Dispatcher: Did you see where the guy who has the knife did you see where he went? Caller: He s still here. Dispatcher: Where? Caller: What? In the fitting room. Dispatcher: He s in the fitting room? Caller: At Macys Mall of America. Dispatcher: Ok he s in the fitting room? Caller: Yeah Macys Mall of America.
3 Dispatcher: So the suspect with a knife is in the fitting room is that correct? Caller: Yes at this point but please hurry! Dispatcher: Ok did you see what he looked like? We have help on the way. Caller: Um oh my god yes. Oh my god. Dispatcher: Ok what does he look like? Caller: [talk over] Hispanic I think. I didn't here, [unintelligible] don t go in there. Don t go in there. Dispatcher: Ok what does he look like? I need you to talk to me. Caller: I don t know. I guess he looks kind of Hispanic mixed. I don t know. Dispatcher: He was mixed? Caller: But please hurry. Dispatcher: Ok ma am we have help on the way. Caller: Ok. Dispatcher: Ok and I need to know, did you get a description of him? Caller: [No audible response]. Dispatcher: Hello? Caller: Oh what? Dispatcher: Did you see what he looked like? Caller: Young men s Macys Mall of America please come now. Dispatcher: Ma am we have help on the way but I need a description of the male with the knife. Caller: He s in the fitting room. I can't see him. Dispatcher: Ok if you can't see him then we have officers on the way. Thank you. Dispatcher: emergency are you calling about the call at Macys? Caller: Yes. Dispatcher: Ok do you know where the person who did it is? Caller: Um apparently it looks like they said he s in the dressing room over by [unintelligible].
4 Dispatcher: The suspect is in the dressing room ma am? Caller: That s what I hear, yes. Dispatcher: Ok alright thank you. Yep hold on a second we re on the way. Hold on. Caller: Thank you. Dispatcher: emergency. Caller: This is Macy s Asset Protection. Dispatcher: Alright where is he at? Caller: [talk over]. Dispatcher: Where is he at? Caller: Uh we don t have eyes on the subject we re um you got the stabbing call? Dispatcher: Yeah where is he at? Caller: We do not have eyes on the-- Dispatcher: And where was he [talk over]. Caller: There s someone in the fitting room. There s someone in the fitting room right now. The guy s someone s in the fitting room. Their beating him up inside the men s fitting room. Dispatcher: Is that first floor? Caller: [talk over] level uh first floor yep on the west side. Dispatcher: Alright we re on the way. Just keep an eye on him as best as you can. If he leaves the fitting room, call us back right away. Caller: Ok thanks bye. [Phone ringing] Allina: Allina dispatch. Dispatcher: Hey Bloomington can you start a couple more rigs to Macys code three standby we re getting reports of multiple victims.
5 Allina: How many are we thinking? Dispatcher: Two to three so far right now so let s go two or three rigs if you got em. Allina: We will do. Dispatcher: Thanks man. Dispatcher: emergency. Caller: [unintelligible] I'm at Macys in Mall of America and there s a man with a knife who was stabbed multiple stabbings. Dispatcher: Yeah yep multiple people or multiple stabs on one victim? Caller: Multiple people. Multiple people. One, two I think three people are bleeding. Dispatcher: Ok and where is the person that did it? Caller: Three. He is still in the department. We are getting Dispatcher: Hello? Yeah we ve got about nineteen calls on this. I ve got other calls on hold and what I'm asking you simply if you know where the person is that did it? Do you know where he is? Caller: I do not. I think he s still in the dressing room. Dispatcher: Do you have a description? Caller: No I do not. Dispatcher: Ok alright what is your name? Caller: What is his what s the description of the perpetrator? There s a policeman here now. Dispatcher: Ok alright I ll let you go. Caller: He s got his gun drawn [unintelligible]. [Phone ringing] Allina: Allina. Dispatcher: Hey Bloomington I'm gonna get you the call at the mall at Macys the stabbing.
6 Allina: Yep. Dispatcher: I ve report oh you already got more rigs going? Ok never mind. Thank you. We were going to order more rigs. We ve got more victims so Allina: [unintelligible]. Dispatcher: Alright. Allina: Do you know how many? Dispatcher: Probably about three victims so let s go with two rigs for now I guess. Allina: Ok. Dispatcher: Let me go check in with our officer here. Allina: Ok sounds good. Dispatcher: Ok two rigs for now he s saying and code three but they still want you to standby. Allina: Copy. Dispatcher: Thank you. [Dial tone] Dispatcher: Police and fire. Caller: Oh I think I called the wrong number. Dispatcher: Ok thank you. Caller: Thank you. Dispatcher: Bloomington police and fire. Caller: Yeah I'm at the Mall of America at Macys. Dispatcher: Yep. Caller: Uh this guy is stabbed in the face in the basement. Dispatcher: Ok he s stabbed in the face? Caller: Yeah or somebody cut himself or somebody stabbed him in the face.
7 Dispatcher: Ok so do you know how many victims there are? Do you know how many victims there are? Caller: There s one person. It s just one guy. He s standing here. Dispatcher: He s standing right there with Caller: And he s freaking out. Dispatcher: Where are you in Macys? Caller: The shoe department, the men s shoe department. Dispatcher: Men s shoe department ok alright well we ve got people enroute ok? Does he have a weapon right now? Caller: I'm calling the police right now. Dispatcher: Hey sir, sir can you hear me? Caller: Yeah well there s police here so. Dispatcher: Ok alright. Dispatcher: Are you still there? Caller: Yeah I'm still here. Dispatcher: Ok alright very good we ve got officers out there right now. Caller: The officers are not here. We need an ambulance now. Dispatcher: There s already three ambulances on the way. We re already on the way. We re on the way. Do you know where the person is that did it? Caller: [talk over] west parking [unintelligible] the west parking entrance. He s in the fitting room. There s cops that have him cornered. Dispatcher: Yep ok alright I'm talking to those officers as we speak so we re good ok I m going to let you go. Caller: Ok. Dispatcher: Thank you. [Dial tone] [Background noise] [Phone Ringing]
8 Caller: What now? Dispatcher: Hi this is David with the Bloomington Police Department are you at the [unintelligible]? Caller: Yes I'm here. Dispatcher: Alright I was just going through some of the phone calls that I had to put on hold here because we ve received a number of calls on that. What is your name? Caller: Oh my name is Maria. Dispatcher: Maria? Maria what s your last name? Caller: Last name is Munoz, M-U-N-O-Z. Dispatcher: Ok alright are the officers there with you now? Caller: Uh yes there s officers here. Dispatcher: Ok alright very good I'm just going through some phone calls I just wanted to make sure. We did get a number of phone calls and that s why we couldn't get back to you as soon as we could but Caller: Yeah I called in because my brother-in-law and my husband were the ones that got attacked by the ones that got attacked by the guy. Dispatcher: Ok so they re you re the victims? Caller: Uh yeah my [talk over] husband. Dispatcher: Do you know this guy? Caller: No we just know that he was in my my brother-in-law was in the fitting room um and next thing you know he started yelling like crazy and then his brother his two brothers ran in there and I guess the guy was trying to steal him and he had a big knife. Dispatcher: Ok so this isn t somebody you know it s like a stranger attack kind of thing. Caller: Yeah. Dispatcher: It started as a dispute in the locker in the changing room? Caller: Yeah it was in the changing room. Dispatcher: Ok alright Maria make sure you make contact with one of the officers at some point they re gonna want to talk to you but just hang tight, ok?
