2 2 1) THE QUEEN S BIRTHDAY TOP WORLD NEWS STORIES Her Majesty celebrated her birthday by meeting thousands of well-wishers in Windsor. I bet she had a lot of Happy birthdays! 2) LIGHT-UP LOO A new gadget has been invented called an IllumiBowl has got everyone talking. Why? You ask. It lights up in the inside of the toilet with a choice of different colours. Going to the toilet just got awesome (especially at night!) 3) BIRTHDAY SKYDIVE Verdun Hayes celebrated his 100 th birthday with a record-breaking skydive. He is now the oldest person EVER known to skydive. 4) SPACE MARATHON Tim Peake ran a marathon-in SPACE!! He broke a record of the first person to run a marathon in space on his treadmill. 5) PRESIDENT OBAMA MEETS PRINCE GEORGE Little Prince George wanted to stay up past his bedtime to thank the president for a present he gave him when he was born - a wooden rocking horse. 6) AN ANCIENT MUMMY IS FOUND In Peru archaeologists have uncovered an ancient mummy that s 45,000 years old. 4 4 P A G E 4 This term we interviewed one of our Year 6 children who is sadly leaving our school. Reporter: Are you nervous about going to secondary school? L: I m excited and quite nervous about being around new people. Reporter: What are you going to miss most about Woodside? L: Probably being around all of the friendly faces. Reporter: What was the first film you watched? L: The first film I watched was The Lion King. Reporter: What hobbies do you do out of school? L: I do Rookie Lifeguard and Youth Group. Reporter: What s your favourite ice cream flavour? L: Honeycomb. Reporter: What s your favourite food? L: Macaroni.

9 9 P A G E 9 School Trips This term we ve had a LOT of school trips. Lots of the Year 6 children went off to Scarborough. The Year 6 children who didn t go to Scarborough went to Crucial Crew in Nesscliffe. Also some Year 5 and Year 6 children went to Chester Zoo. Year 3/4 went to the Roald Dahl activity centre in Tatton Park. So we ve had lots of brilliant school trips this term!

11 11 Newspaper reporters wanted for next year! If you re a long term fan of the newspaper, we are sad to say that this is the last edition of the year. But remember that new reporters will be needed next year. So, if you love the newspaper, you can always join as a reporter in September! There are lots of spaces and you could even create your own topic to report on. You need to be hard-working, enthusiastic, have a good sense of humour and be committed to being one of our reporters. If you are interested please see Mrs Wetherill or Miss Bennett in September.
