First of all, it needs to be different: something nobody has seen before that'll get it attention. But that s only the beginning. The poster has to tell its story in mere seconds. "That's the challenge, to try get two hours of entertainment down into a simple graphic you can read in three seconds," Seiniger explains. He certainly rose to the challenge here, with the instantly recognisable image of the great white rising from the depths to snack on a bathing beauty. Placing the Joker away from the group and in particular, on the x of the eye suggests that the character is the target of the movie.
