1 2015 HHES Talent Show Important Dates and Information Important Dates to Remember Audition 1 Tuesday March 3, :30 8:00 pm. Sign up online for an audition time. Audition 2 (callbacks only) Tuesday March 17, :30 8:00 pm. Dress Rehearsal Tuesday May 5, :30 8:30 pm. (Mandatory) Talent Show Friday May 8, :30 8:30 pm. Performers must complete one Audition and attend the Dress Rehearsal to participate in the Talent Show. Each performer will be limited to one act only. We are trying to plan for a 2-hour Talent Show. You must sign up for a time to secure an audition. Go to AUDITION SIGN-UP on the HHES PTA Talent Show web page and fill out the form to request a time: Please provide parent name, performer names, act description (with song name if applicable), parent address, and parent phone number. You will be notified by about your audition time. *** There is a $10 registration fee for each act that participates in the Talent Show due at the Audition. Each act will receive one 2015 Talent Show DVD at the end of the school year. Additional DVDs may be pre-purchased for $10/each *** Please fill out the following forms from this packet and bring to the audition. 1. Student Permission Slip (one for each performer) 2. Tell us a little something about yourself Worksheet (one for each performer) HHES teachers, students, parents, and other family members are invited to audition for the 2015 Talent Show. People not associated with HHES should not audition. We are looking for volunteers to help out during the Auditions, Dress Rehearsal, and day of Talent Show. 2 Audition Rules The act and its performer(s) must meet all the following requirements to pass the Audition: 1. Acts must be 3 minutes or less. The exception to this is if the act contains a musical song that is longer. Most songs are between 3 4 minutes. Please select a song that is around that long. 2. If you need music for your act, keep in mind that others probably like the same popular songs that you do. Either select a song that isn t one of the most popular songs or sign up online and request your song. Song titles can be reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis. We re not going to have 2 people singing that same Taylor Swift song that we hear on the radio all the time 3. If the act requires music, you have 2 options: a. Provide a CD, with the song on it, at time of audition (CDs will not be returned). Please label the CD with song name, length of song and name of performer(s). Please TEST the CD in a CD player before the audition to make sure it works. b. Pay an additional $2.00 along with the registration fee for the PTA to purchase the music for you through itunes. If this option is chosen at the time of the Audition, we will purchase the song and have it ready for you to use. 4. If the act is singing a song to music, the music must be an INSTRUMENTAL version of the song (no voices). 5. The act may not contain inappropriate content. 6. If the performer(s) will be wearing a costume, they must perform the act in the costume at the Audition. Costumes need to be approved by a PTA member. 7. The performer(s) need to display a reasonable sense of readiness. If you are not approved, please make the appropriate changes and sign-up for Audition 2.

3 Emcee Information We are looking for up to 4 students to Emcee the show. Students who are solid readers with lots of stage presence and big personalities are encouraged to try out for this position. We expect them to be able to read from a script to introduce each of the acts as they come on stage. They can also write some jokes to tell in between acts, if they are ambitious. For the audition, prospective Emcees can either bring their own material (jokes) to read or can read the following excerpt from a previous show: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Hebron-Harman Elementary School Talent Show. My name is. Tonight, for your pleasure, we have an amazing show put together. That s right. If you like music, we have singers and dancers so good that Lady Gaga would go back in her egg if she heard them. And we have actors and actresses so talented that everyone from the Oscars would throw their awards in the trash if they saw them. Also, we ve got comedians so funny that if Dan Cook and Larry the Cable Guy heard them, they would quit telling jokes and start selling Life Insurance. Sorry to anyone who sells Insurance out there but your jobs are just not funny. We d like to give a special welcome to the faculty and parents for coming tonight. We ll do our best to get you home at a decent time. We don t want you parents waking up cranky tomorrow. Seriously, if you adults cause a fuss tonight, we ll have your video games taken away. All right, ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to kick this show off? I hope you all washed your feet, because this first act is going to knock your socks off! Let s hear a big round of applause for Zharell and Zaysha dancing to Michael Jackson! Here is an example joke to read: The other night I was reading about bears on Wikipedia and I learned something.
