Cooler or Refrigerator (for ice cream & whipped cream)! Paper Towels* (to clean up after the game)! 2 Prizes* (1 large, 1 small) Prepare ahead of time:! 3 days prior to Sunday, wrap 2 scoops in foil and place in freezer. This will hard freeze the ice cream and keep it cooler longer. Sunday, place the foil wrapped scoops into a cooler or freezer.! Print out Ice Cream Sundae Cards.! Remove seal from chocolate syrup, sprinkles and whipped cream.! Place Ice Cream in each Bowl (from wrapped foil ball, right before Game Time.! Contestants should stand behind the table.
How to play:! Contestant will be blindfolded while Game Director reads instructions for assembling an ice cream sundae to the Contestant.! The first team to assemble an ice cream sundae, deliver it to someone in the audience and come back up on stage is the winner! Notes for Game Director:! Please choose contestants who are not wearing skirts or dresses.! Game Director will choose 2 contestants. When the contestants come up onto stage, allow kids to introduce themselves. Make sure they know how to play the game, and then allow the game to start. Tie-in teaching point:! One of our contestants was not ok because they had to wear a blindfold. Thankfully, their teammate was able to help them! In our Bible story, two people were able to get help because they told someone that they weren t ok! It s Ok To Not Be Ok! Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest: " Watermelon cut into slices " Painters tape on floor to mark line where participants stand behind " Measuring tape " Bucket or containers to contain seeds PLAY Patriotic music in itunes (have logo on screens) God Bless The USA Star Spangled Banner God Bless America OTR Counter Host takes stage. HOST: Welcome back to Beginagin Theme Park! As you know, we have been learning about eight truths from the Bible that will take our relationships with God to a new level...off the rails!!! Before we get things started let s just take a minute to review our rules in CF Kids! Rule #1 Respect yourself and others, Rule #2 Be Kind, Rule #3 Listen and Obey, and Rule #4 Respect Our Property. Well, this is a holiday weekend and so we are going to have a good old fashioned, all American activity that has been done in this country for years! It s called a Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest! Yes, you have permission to SPIT seeds but there is a point! We are going to find out who can spit their seed the
farthest! (Choose participants and have them stand behind taped floor area and allow them to spit their seeds as far as possible or into a bucket or container) Seed Spitting - All American Music Plays Throughout! (Stars and Stripes Forever) Great job! Before we go into the park, let s check out what we need to know today! Wk5_N2K w/ Teaching Music It s Okay To Not Be Okay! You guys stay seated and repeat that after me. Optional Motions: (1 st -3 rd Grade Only) It s Okay (put two thumbs up) To Not Be (shake your head) Okay (put two thumbs up)! HOST: Awesome job! Well then let s not waste any more time! Let s head into the park. Let s count it down! Ready? ACTION!!! Host exits stage OTR_ES_Opener Angie and her mom are walking side-by-side. Angie s mom has a red balloon tied to her wrist. Angie: It s nice to hang out with just us two girls, mom. I m really glad you suggested dad take Ricky and D.J. to go and do whatever it is the guys want to do, leaving us in peace. They were kind of bugging me anyway. Mom: I kind of figured, so I thought it d be nice to have a little girl time on vacation. If we want to wait in line to have our pictures taken with the handsome prince of Beginigin Park, we can, and without any complaints! Angie: Mom, you re such a goof. I m a little too old to take a picture with a prince. That s for little girls, and I just turned eleven. Mom: You ll always be my little girl. Angie: Mo-om, you re so embarrassing. Moving on, your little girl would like to go on the Wiggly Water Cups to get drenched, and then we can ride Montezuma s Revenge.
Mom: Angie, I think I can handle the Wiggly Water Cups, they sound pretty harmless, but Montezuma s Revenge sounds pretty traumatic. You ll be riding that one solo. You know how I get dizzy and nauseous on roller coasters. Angie: I do remember what happened to you last year riding Kiddie Coaster with D.J., and it wasn t pretty. So, I can ride Montezuma s Revenge by myself?! Mom: Sure you can! You re old enough. Obviously, we will hang out together in line, but I just won t go on the ride. I ll wait for you in the gift shop by the exit. You can t miss me; I have this bright red balloon from your little brother attached to me to make me even easier to spot. Angie: That sounds great! I ve never been able to go on a ride all by myself. Let s skip the Wiggly Cups. We can do them after I ride Montezuma s Revenge all by myself. I can t wait to tell all my friends. Mom: Ok, that s probably a good idea since I just ate a bunch of popcorn and cotton candy and washed it down with a giant soda. The Wiggly Cups might get me, and my snack might make a reappearance. Angie: That s pretty gross, mom. That was totally something one of the boys would have said. Mom: I wanted you to feel like they were with us in spirit. I didn t want you to miss the boys too much. Angie: Mo-om, let s go ahead and get a spot in line. Mom: Ok, let s go. Week #5 Bible Story Game Instruction OTR_ES_GameTime w/ Game Music GAME DIRECTOR: Thanks, Wil! Now before you can play you ll need to pick TWO friends to play this game with you! Ok are you guys ready to play this game? Let s all count it down together from 3 and say Sundae. Kids, help me count...3, 2, 1, SUNDAE!! Wk5_GameTime w/ Action Music Game Director facilitates game. Game Director: The winner is...!
GAME DIRECTOR: Let s give our contestants a round of applause for playing today s game! Thanks for playing! OTR_Logo with Music Angie: (Thinking aloud) That ride was totes amazing! I can t wait to find mom and tell her all about it. Now, where is she? (Looking around) That s right, look for a bright red balloon. Oh, great... (Looking around, again) There must be something like thirty red balloons and none of them are attached to my mom. (Starting to get a little nervous) Of course mom chooses this vacation to be a technology free vacation. I actually listened, left my cell phone in the hotel and now I can t even text her to find out where she is. (Stops and has a startling realization) It s ok I am separated from my parents. It s totally not a big deal I have no idea where they are I m going into fifth grade next year, and I just turned eleven. I m not supposed to be scared to be alone in a great big theme park surrounded by thousands of strangers when I m a big eleven-year-oldalmost-fifth-grader What should I do? What should I do?! (Takes a deep breath) Mom, would tell me I need to run to Jesus for help. (Closes her eyes and holds her hands together tightly, nervously) I need to pray, God, you have always been there for me. I m very scared. I need your help because I don t know what to do. I can t find my mom, and I don t know where my dad is. I m all alone and surrounded by strangers. Who can I trust to help me? How will I find my parents? (The security guard lightly taps her shoulder, so Angie opens her eyes.) Security guard: Young lady, are you ok? I ve been watching you, and you seem like you may be lost. Don t be embarrassed. It happens to people all the time. Angie: Actually, I am. My mom said she d meet me in here, but I can t find her or call her since I don t have my cell phone. I panicked and didn t know who to ask for help, so I was praying. Security guard: That was a smart idea. I know I ve had plenty of times when I ve been in trouble, and I ve asked God for His help, too. Here, you can use my cell to get a hold of your mom. Mom: (Waving and walking towards Angie and the security guard) Angie! I m here! I m so sorry, sweetheart. Angie: (Hugging her mom tightly) Where were you?! I was scared! Mom: After waiting in that line for 90 minutes, nature called and I really had to go. It was an emergency. I thought I could go and be back by the time you were done, but there was a line there, too! I m so sorry.
Angie: It s ok. Everything is ok, now. (To the security guard) Thank you for your help. Mom: Yes, thank you so much. Security guard: You re welcome. You two go and have some fun! (security guard exits) Mom: I didn t mean to frighten you. I feel terrible. Angie: It s really ok. I learned three important truths today. Mom: You did? What are they? Angie: God really does care about me when I m not ok, and I will always be your little girl. Mom: If I m not mistaken, that was only two things you learned. Angie: The third thing I learned is that you certainly would have hurled on Montezuma s Revenge. That ride was ridiculous! It was nuts! I t was totally bananas! Mom: Tell me all about every twist and turn, baby girl. Tell me all about it. HOST/WORSHIP/WRAP UP Wrap Up Points: When Angie was starting to panic and freak out because she couldn t find her mom, who did she turn to first to ask for help? (God) How did she ask for God s help? (In prayer) After Angie prayed to God, what happened? (The security guard found her, calmed her down and then her mom found her.) If you re not ok, you can always pray to God and ask for His help. He is always there for you. He is always there to listen to your needs. Tie-in teaching point From Game:! One of our contestants was not ok because they had to wear a blindfold. Thankfully, their teammate was able to help them! In our Bible story, two people were able to get help because they told someone that they weren t ok! It s Ok To Not Be Ok!
HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: Before we go, let s turn to our neighbor and say this one more time It s Okay, To Not Be Okay! (kids repeat after you, repeat motions if you did them earlier) If Time Allows: (If short on Time leave this section out and move directly on to closing. Host /Worship Leader: Ok! Let s all stand up and worship together! We Are Free- Song We should all remember that it is okay for us not to be okay! When we have a problem we shouldn t keep it to ourselves, but tell someone we trust so they can help us. Be sure you take 5 invites with you and pray about who you can invite to join you next week! Let s all pray together before we leave. You guys pray with me! Example of prayer: Jesus, help me to remember it is okay, not to be okay. I pray that when we have a problem, we will tell our parents, small group leader or a friend so we can work through the problem together! AMEN! OTR_ES_Closer
