4 II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Adverbs of Time (5-6 minutes) Adverbs are modifiers of adjectives, verbs and other adverbs. Adverbs of time are types of adverbs that tell when an action/event happened. They can also tell us how long the action happened or how often. They are usually one of the following kinds: Common time expressions ex. today, tomorrow, next week, next Monday, last year a. With prepositions ex. at night, on Christmas, for three months, since 1998 b. Other time expressions ex. later, soon, eventually, now, finally, already, afterwards Remember : Adverbs of time should be in connection to the tense of the verb used in the sentence. (ex. If the verb is in past tense, use adverbs such as yesterday or last month. ) Examples : Tense Adverb of time Past I went to the hospital yesterday. Future I will visit my cousins in September.
