1 Nisley 4th Grade Paper Dear Nisley, Last night sometime during the night it started snowing! There was about 3-4 inches on the ground when I went to school in the morning. Well after I got to school it really started dumping. By the time it was 9:00a.m. the snow was higher than the school building. We were snowed in! At lunch we were all getting restless. We were so bored that we started throwing food till the recess bell rang. Then we all ran back to our classroom. Just as we came in, Mr. Taylor announced on the intercom that school was canceled. Everyone ran outside and starting throwing snowballs. All of the kids ran outside and On Tuesday, December 5, we interviewed my dad, an incredible airline pilot. Us: What plane are you flying now? Dad: The Boeing 777, The Queen of the Skies. Us: How hard is it to fly the Boeing 777? Dad: Quite easy because it is so sophiscated and computers run mostly everything. There are Snow Day started throwing snowballs. We started out throwing them from the ground, but by 1:00 p.m. we were throwing them from the roof of the school at one another. Some kids ran into the parking lot screaming their heads off just for the fun of it. At 3:00 p.m. most of the kids had gone home, but not me. I was still there with about 50 other kids. We were all seeing how many of us we could fit in one of the trees on our playground. Then some of my friends started trying to climb the flag pole to see how far up they could get. When they got to the top. They started yelling like king Kong on the Empire state building. When I got home I heard tomorrow Flying high in the sky many backup systems. Us: How do you like your job? Dad: I really like it but I don t like being away from my family as much as I have to be. Us: Have you ever jumped off a plane? Dad: Yes. I was would be the same as today. Sincerely, Omelia What a snowy day! skydiving when I was younger and foolish. Us: Have you ever had an emergency? Dad: I have. A couple. Us: What was it? Dad: In Japan, we couldn t get the nose gear down and I had a engine fire on my commercial check ride. Us: What s a Commercial check ride? Dad: There are different pilot ratings to fly. You start out as a privet pilot. Then a commercial. Then an A.T.P. (A=airline T= transport P=pilot) Us: what rate are you? Dad: A.T.P with type ratings on the bowling 727&767&737&757&777 MCVSD51 Volume 1, Issue 1 12/8/06 What to wear in the snow A big warm Jacket Scarf Snow boots Hats and gloves Ear muffs Inside this issue: page Swinger field trip 2 Miley in Michigan 2 Editors 2 Winner of the week 3 Bio on winner 3 How to be a winner 4 Ty s Joke Shop 4
2 Swinger Field Trip On Tuesday, November 14th Mr. Swinger s class took a Field Trip to Mr. Swinger s farm. He has 2 mules ( Babe & Tuck) and 2 horses (Sandman & Chucker). Sandman is a colt that likes oatmeal. Anyway, his daughters Olivia, oldest, and Molly, youngest did everything we did (even though they ve been there, done that.) 1st, some of us looked around and played with the dogs and horses. Then, Mr. Swinger showed us his horse s and his gear. Then, we had lunch. The lunch rules were : Boys get the haystacks Girls get trampoline NO Boys Allowed on the tramp No Girls on hay stacks. Article by Then we went to the wash behind his Jenna G Frisch house. Back there, at the wash, we gathered many brightly colored leaves for our art project. Then we went into his wife s flower garden to pick more leaves. (The boys caught grasshoppers and spiders instead.) He brought his 2 dogs Hannah and Josie. Next we picked apples and ate them and fed them to the horses and mules. Then Here he had is Mr. Swinger cleaning most of the kids walk to the Chucker s bus stop hoof. Be careful, where he picked them up and drove Mr. to Swinger! his neighbor s cattle ranch where his neighbor s granddaughter showed us the cattle she took care of. Then we went back to school, ending our wonderful Field Trip. Dear Nisley, Hi I m Miley I live in Flint, Michigan. I am 9 years old and am in 4th grade. I am friend s with Omelia and Jenna the reporters. My favorite animal is a wolf. This week My friend Lila and I won our school s annual spelling Bee and we even beat the 7th graders! When I got home my mom told me that my friend s mom had Miley in Michigan called us on the phone and told that other friend T keyah was sick was sick with the Flu and couldn t come to Swimming class today. So I set off for swimming class by myself for class. It was below 10 degrees outside. Good thing my swimming class has an indoor pool. Later, After swimming class I went to the daycare were my sister goes to on Monday and Friday to pick her up. Then we walked home and when we got there we ate dinner. Well I ll write again next week. Yours Truly, Miley This publication is not the creation of a teacher. The two editors who are in charge of this week s paper are the two young ladies pictured at the right. Omelia Emmons and Jenna Frisch have been hard at work coming up with articles and the format for this publication. You can see by the picture that they enjoy their job!! Page 2 Nisley 4th Grade Paper
3 Winner of the Week By Kayla Marks: Typed as written One sunny afternoon my friends Cecilia and Dillin were playing soccer with me. Dillin kicked the ball over the fence. I yelled My ball! I raced toward Dillin. Cecilia yelled Stop! Look at that house! she said. Dillin said cool! Cecilia and I screamed. Dillin said don t be sissies. We gulped at the sight of the spooky looking house. Then Dillin said listen come over here we all heard a moan. I said Let s go to my house, we can talk about this over lunch. Cecilia said What do you think that moaning sound was? I don t want to know. I said. We walked to the scary house afterwards. Then we made a plan. It was I go in the front door, Dillin goes in back and Cecilia comes with me. We all heard a noise. It was a scary noise. We all ran and bumped into each other. We all screamed so we ran up the stairs not even thinking. We saw a black figure holding my soccer ball. Dillin kicked it out of his hands. It bounced off Cecilia s head, mine, and Dillin s. We all passed out. We woke up in my front yard. I was the first to wake up. I woke up everyone else. Dillin said whoa! I was like Wow! and Cecilia screeched. I said What s the matter? she said nothing. Then Dillin called his mom and said he would be late. Cecilia said I d better go home. We all guessed that moaning sound was the black figure. But we ll never know. By Kayla Marks Bio By Kayla Marks Bio My favorite animal!
