For example, if 5 people chose red as their favourite colour, you would colour in the Red column up to the number 5. If you are not sure how to do this, ask your teacher or an adult and they will help you. Remember to use the right colours! 3 Unit 10 Categories Science Living and non-living things Our world is made up of living and non-living things. Below is a list of common living and non-living animals, plants and objects. 4 Unit 11 Pet day Visual language Cut-and-paste poems: instructions In a cut-and-paste poem, words or sentences that have to do with the subject are cut out of magazines, newspapers or brochures. These words or sentences are then arranged to express a feeling or to make a statement. Your cut-and-paste poem is going to be all about pets. You can do one just on your type of pet, or it can be on pets in general. Cut out words or sentences that have to do with pets. When you have a few, start to arrange them in an order that makes sense, and that you think looks good and describes your pet. Make sure you also make a great title for your poem. When you are satisfied with the order of the words you have collected, glue your poem onto the following page and decorate it with a colourful border, etc. It doesn t really matter how long your poem is, as long as it communicates what you want it to say. Before you start, you will need: magazines, newspapers, brochures, etc. scissors glue. 73

5 Unit 16 Fabulous, exciting books Drama Mimes and tableaux Work in small groups. Discuss some wellknown fairy tales and nursery rhymes that most people would be familiar with. Pick two or three of these stories or rhymes to present as a mime or tableau. A mime is acting out part of a story using actions and expression without talking or making any other sound. A tableau is a silent group of people who are making a picture by sitting or standing in position and not moving. If you choose to create a tableau, make sure you choose a very well-known part of the story or rhyme. Present to the rest of the class and see if they can guess which story or rhyme you are showing. Draw a picture of the best mime or tableau below. 114

6 Unit 18 Healthy living Health Games and sports Below, in the box, are the names of some well-known games that you need to be very fit to play well. You need a pool for this sport, some of the main strokes are freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. 2. Most of these activities are done on a track or field. 3. Our national team for this sport are called the Black Caps. You play this game with bats, wickets and a ball. 4. There are many teams and competitions for this game. You play it with an oval ball and you have to score tries or kick the ball over the goal posts. 5. This is played with a round ball. You bounce or dribble the ball and try to slam dunk or shoot hoops. 127
