6 DaVinci Film Festival WHAT S THE DIFF? It s the DaVinci International Film Festival (DIFF), but also a question many independent filmmakers ask as they browse and filter through hundreds (if not thousands) of festivals online, but what makes DIFF standout from the others? It starts with our brand OUR NAME. The way we see it, Leonardo da Vinci was the epitome of the divergent and creative mind a luminary and we aim to recognize much of the same at our festival. Creatives who break boundaries and pull us into new worlds. Like many festivals, we set out to honor the best of independent cinema from around the world, and do so by taking into account the full scope of the creative integration in any given project. From performances to color correction, score to sound design, our Jury is tasked with assessing each film based on an overall cohesiveness as it relates to storytelling. In addition, DIFF shines a very important light on screenwriting through a sister brand called STORYLINE. DIFF founders are intimately familiar with, and appreciate the full cycle of, independent filmmaking and the demands therein...from perils of financing, through the distribution of any given work the process is often unforgiving. Most of these creative projects can take a short lifetime to complete, and whether or not a filmmaker s work is showcased at DIFF, we.encourage them to keep pressing forward. We pride ourselves on communication and understanding our Creatives..Another standout at DIFF is the DaVinci Film Institute. We are committed to donating a portion of our entry proceeds (per.quarter) toward a film grant program, that will be awarded at the Live Showcase Event to one duly qualified winner. This non-profit arm of the festival is our way of supporting burgeoning filmmakers around the world! Our format is a bit unconventional, insofar that we host a quarterly online festival for all of our categories. Winners of our Vitruvian Award (each quarter) will be invited to screen at the Live Showcase Event at the end of the calendar year, where they will compete against other quarterly winners for their shot at our most prized commendation, the Leo Award..Our Inaugural year was a HUGE SUCCESS, screening award-winning films at the Laemmle Theater in Santa Monica for our Vitruvian Award winners, family, friends, and industry professionals. The Showcase was followed by a VIP After Party. and Award.Ceremony. More than 700,000 entries submitted through FilmFreeway. Over 500,000 filmmakers and artists worldwide 125K filmmakers Each respective platform/division comes with its own followers and demographics, building the DIFF brand exponentially, and creating a larger footprint in the festival community. In addition, DIFF recently introduced PREFest Services for filmmakers as a way to polish their projects prior to submission, to give them a better chance at Official Selection.

9 Programs & Competitions Film Festival: DIFF welcomes independent film from around the world to participate in our quarterly competition series in feature and short format narrative. Winners (Vitruvians) from each quarter go on to screen at our Live Showcase Event each year for their shot at the Leo Award and sponsorship prizes. DIFFdocs: Our documentary arm (DIFFdocs) is a standalone competition program within our festival, and welcomes documentarians to submit each quarter in long and short formats. Our 2nd Annual will allow our Vitruvian documentarians to compete for the Leo Award at our Live Showcase Event. DaVinci Film Institute: DFI is our non-profit arm of the DaVinci Film Festival. This program supports a film grant for young independent filmmakers by way of application. The grant is funded directly by DIFF film festival submissions, and awarded to our burgeoning filmmaker(s) at the Live Showcase Event. STORYLINE: At DIFF we believe that any great movie starts with a great script, and STORYLINE represents our standalone screenwriting competition series under the DIFF banner, receiving hundreds of screenplays throughout the year for their shot at both our Vitruvian and Leo Awards, as well as sponsor prizes.

BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS. The founders of DaVinci International Film Festival are independent filmmakers to the core. With decades of progressive industry experience, pushing and pulling budgets, screenwriting, directing, casting, producing, editing, and distributing their content they are intimately familiar with all aspects of the indie filmmaker life and business development, which qualified them to launch the DIFF platform in May Distribution, in the indie world, is largely within the festival circuit. This platform affords the filmmaker the opportunity to showcase their work in front of a live audience, take the stage for Q&A, and ultimately be recognized by the organization with awards and celebration. Best case scenario, the filmmaker walks with a business card from a distributor for a potential deal. But outside of the festival circuit, the indie filmmaker has next to zero chance of any real" exposure without being bankrolled to secure a PR Firm, streaming service or otherwise. The accessibility of the festival circuit for the independent filmmaker is really where it s at. For a nominal fee, filmmakers can submit their work to these platforms around the world for a shot at the stage, prizes, and incredible exposure. This is our market.
