3 Ushers & Greeters Ushers represent Opera Grand Rapids by greeting patrns and helping them t their seats at pera perfrmances. They als frequently take tickets as well as handing ut prgrams t patrns at prductins. Greeters act as hsts/hstesses t Opera Grand Rapids patrns by pening the lbby drs fr patrns and welcming them t the perfrmance r event. Yu ll Need: A friendly, pleasant and prfessinal demeanr T be cmfrtable with meeting new peple The ability t be able t be n yur feet fr lng perids f time Availability in the late afternns and evenings Time Cmmitment: Called 1 hur befre each event (typically 2-4 hurs ttal) Required Attire: Men: Black dress shes, black scks and black dress pants. A white shirt a black tie, and a black jacket are required. Wmen: Cmfrtable but cnservative black, clsed ted shes. (N sandals, clgs, slings r pen te shes please.) 5 Artist Chauffeur Here s yur chance t meet ur traveling pera stars in persn! Learn abut their travels, experiences and adventures as prfessinal artists. Chauffeuring invlves driving ur traveling artists t and frm the airprt and their husing lcatins. Yu will be the artists first and/r last pint f cntact in the regin. Use yur friendly, utging persnality t make them feel welcme. 6 Lad-In/Lad-Out Team Each prductin, the prductin team packs up the furniture, prps, cstumes, and backstage necessities int rental trucks t transprt them t and frm the theatre. Are yu a wizard at packing mving bxes r have sme extra muscle t spare? Lad-In and Lad-Out days are always rewarding t see the magic f a prductin cme tgether in the theatre. This is als a great vlunteer pprtunity fr thse interested in technical theatre. Yu ll Need: Great rganizatinal skills with labeling and packing Ability t lift 50+ lbs and maneuver large prps, set pieces, furniture and mre Ability t cmmunicate well in teams Time Cmmitment: Mst Lad-In days begin at 8AM the Sunday mrning the week f a prductin; Lad-Outs begin during the clsing night perfrmance f a prductin (usually beginning at 8PM n a Saturday). Shifts are generally 2-4 hurs. Attire: Cmfrtable clthing and clse-ted shes. Fr thse wh will be lading/unlading the truck, mving glves may be helpful. They are needed fr a variety f tasks including the check-in table, cat check, set up & tear dwn, silent auctin and mre. The specifics abut the needs, time cmmitment and perks differ fr each event.
