2 DETROIT marks Zoetic Stage s much-anticipated return to the Arsht Center for its fourth consecutive season and continues the Center s highly acclaimed Theater Up Close Series which features artistic collaborations from stellar local theater ensembles and nationally acclaimed theater companies. The Arsht Center s Theater Up Close Season is supported by Alan and Diane Lieberman and the Hotel Croydon Miami Beach. Tickets to DETROIT are $45* and may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office by calling (305) or online at Directed by Stuart Meltzer, Zoetic Stage s Carbonell Award nominated and Silver Palm Awardwinning Artistic Director, DETROIT is a dark and risky new play that exposes the nerves that live just under the surface of American life. In a first-ring suburb just outside a city that might be, Ben (Chaz Mena) and Mary (Irene Adjan) enthusiastically welcome into their lives the rootless couple Sharon (Betsy Graver) and Kenny (Matt Stabile) who move in next door. But as this foursome bonds over backyard barbecues, the neighborly connection they find threatens to unravel the lives they've built and change them forever. Ben and Mary soon find themselves increasingly pulled toward their wild new friends to incendiary effect. We could not be more excited to barrel into our fourth season by presenting the regional premiere of Lisa D Amour s powerful, hilarious, unsettling DETROIT, said Zoetic Stage Artistic Director Stuart Meltzer. We live in volatile times, and DETROIT is the often very funny story of four desperate souls on a collision course, doing their best to hold onto hope, even as their American Dream goes up in flames. Our wonderful ongoing partnership with the Arsht Center helps us to present our audience with an eclectic mix of fresh, relevant work, and DETROIT is no exception. As we get ready to open the second show of the Arsht Center s Theater Up Close series, we re thrilled to announce that the season is off to a record-breaking start with more than 800 subscribers to date, said Scott Shiller, executive vice president of the Adrienne Arsht Center. We believe this success is partly due to do the critically-acclaimed work done by our creative partners at Zoetic Stage.
