2 About Redtwist Theatre Redtwist Theatre, formerly Actors Workshop Theatre, embarked upon its first production as an itinerant company in 1994 with Simon Gray s Otherwise Engaged. AWT incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in May It produced five more plays before moving to its current home in the vibrant Bryn Mawr Historic District of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago in the fall of Redtwist s first show in Edgewater, Praying Small, opened in September It was designated as a Critic s Choice by the Chicago Reader and was extended two times by popular demand. Michael Colucci, the founder of Redtwist Theatre, is the Artistic Director. His producing partner and wife, Jan Ellen Graves, is the Managing Director. In addition to acting, she directed the critically-acclaimed The American Clock by Arthur Miller and the Jeff-recommended plays Geezers and Aura, by company member, Tommy Lee Johnston. Michael s direction of All My Sons, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Three Hotels, That Face, and Broken Glass was also critically-acclaimed and Jeff-recommended. During Redtwist s time at the Bryn Mawr location, its productions have received 54 Jeff nominations and won 9 Non-Equity Jeff Awards including one for Best Production for Man from Nebraska in As of March 1, 2008, AWT s corporate name officially changed to Redtwist Theatre. Mark rediscovered his love for acting five years ago when his last prior performance as an actor was in his high school senior play. He is a graduate of Greenshirt Studio s Meisner program and is currently studying Improv For Actors at Second City. Chase Nuerge (u/s Archer)is excited to be working with Redtwist for the first time and has enjoyed being a part of making this play come to life. They got their BA from Oberlin College and love making relevant and political theater, especially normalizing gender non-conformity. Shane Cinal (Scenic Charge) is a freelance scenic designer and artist currently residing in Chicago, IL with a particular interest in design for new works/concepts and opera. A graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and his MFA in Scenic Design from the Ohio State University. Some of his credits include the new musical, SPUN-a brother/sister rock musical, SWEENEY TODD, THE VISIT, CARMEN, THE BULL THE MOON AND THE CORONET OF STARS and HOME. Elsewhere he appeared as Master Mino in the world premiere of LEDA by Amy Crider, and THE RIVER BRIDE at Halcyon Theatre, where he is an ensemble member. Other shows include: ELECTRA GARRIGÓ with The Right Brain Project, and THE DARK AGES: OTHO THE GREAT with Frank Farrell Productions. He directed SHOOTER by Jeff Helgeson at the final Abbie Hoffman Died For Our Sins Festival XXVIII. He s returning for a third time to perform his one-person show THAT S F D UP at Wilbur Wright College for Hispanic Heritage month, directed by Redtwist company member Mary Reynard. Charlie Hano (Production Manager/Casting Director) is a casting professional and theatre administrator. They are a Casting Associate with The Chicago Inclusion Project. In July they will be the casting fellow for The New York Theatre Workshop. Charlie graduated from Columbia College with a BA in Theatre. As always, for Patrick. Sunniva Holmlund (Assistant Stage Manager) is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, where she studied stage management, lighting, and theatre for development. Originally from the West side of Chicago, she has returned to the city to persue stage management and community outreach through theatre. Recent credits include A BLUE ISLAND IN THE RED SEA with Collaboraction (ASM), HISTORY LEZONS: A One Act Festival at Pride Films and Plays (SM), 4.48 PSYCHOSIS with Saltbox Theatre Collective (PSM), and SOUTH PACIFIC at her alma mater (SM). Brennan T. Jones (Stage Manager) is a freelance director, dramaturg, and stage manager in Chicago. Past Redtwist credits include SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY (SM) and the staged reading of Tracey Conyer Lee s RABBIT SUMMER (Director). Brennan has also worked in Chicago with TimeLine Theatre, Congo Square Theatre, Victory Gardens, Porchlight Music Theatre, Pride Films and Plays, and Music Theatre Works. Malcolm Martinez (Box Office Manager) has served at Redtwist Theatre as co-director of OTHERWISE ENGAGED, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, and WHO S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, Assistant Director of PROOF and WAITING FOR GODOT, and Stage Manager of THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE and THE RIDE DOWN MOUNT MORGAN. He was most recently seen on stage at Redtwist in FROST/ NIXON. He has acted, written and directed for Theatre Under The Influence and Theatre On The Rocks in the great city of Seattle, as well as working in film and theatre in Milwaukee, Seattle, New Orleans and Los Angeles. Kristen Martino (Scenic Designer) is a Chicago-based Scenic Designer with recent work at Piven Theatre Workshop, Gulfshore Playhouse, Timber Lake Playhouse, and Indiana University--where she completed her MFA in Scenic Design. Kristen has upcoming productions at Chicago theatres including Marriott Theatre, Music Theatre Works and Porchlight Music Theatre. She is an Associate Scenic Designer for XL Scenic and Kevin Depinet Studios where she has had the opportunity to assist with designs at theatres internationally. Kristen is a part of the team selected to design and represent the USA s Emerging Artist Exhibit for the 2019 Prague Quadrennial. Shea Messinger (Props Designer) is a designer, builder and storyteller. They graduated from Bennington College where they produced, designed, and performed in a puppet adaptation of WATERSHIP DOWN, and wrote and designed WHEN THE SUN FALLS. Since coming to Chicago they have designed and built the set for Quest theatre ensemble s I LOVE YOU RE PERFECT NOW CHANGE and Theatre Evolve s TWELFTH NIGHT, painted Rivendell s ALIAS GRACE, technical directed several shows at Windy City Performs, and Piven s A HOME ON THE LAKE, and designed props for Redtwist s OUR TOWN. More than anything, they believe in the power of stories. Seph Mozes (Assistant Director) is a recent graduate from the University of Chicago, where he studied Theater and Gender Studies. He is very honored to be working with Redtwist on his first professional production. He is also working with Northlight Theater this summer as their dramaturgy intern. Harrison Ornelas (Technical Director) was born and raised in Chicago. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago and started working for theaters all over the city. Most recently he has worked on TRAITOR at A Red Orchid Theater, THROUGH THE ELEVATED LINE at Silk Road Rising, and Akvavit s touring production of HITLER ON THE ROOF. Currently he is an on staff TD for this summer season of Theater on the Lake and this is his second year there.
