Cía. Daniel Abreu Direction: Daniel Abreu Nuevamente ante ti fascinado
Nuevamente ante ti fascinado ROBERTO: All this is Chekhov s. DANIEL: Who is Chekhov?... ROBERTO: A very important Russian writer... I am reading The Seagull, one of his most outstanding works, and there are several things. One of the characters sings a part of an invented song I guess, which is Nuevamente ante ti fascinado (Fascinated in front of you once again) I loved it as a title, like this, in quotation marks, because it is a quote, because it gives space for us to love each other on the stage and to hate each other, and using it ironically, I like it. DANIEL: Nuevamente ante ti fascinado (Fascinated in front of you once again)!!! I like it Roberto, but I don t think we will talk about Chekhov, neither about you nor about me We have many things in common and many other things that differentiate us Of all, what most interests me is that we are always exposed. ROBERTO: How?... DANIEL: I don t know... In this work, the spoken word is intermingled with the movement, vis-à-vis the shared idea of appearances. An excuse to tell and talk about exposure, about the world of vaudeville theatre, about Vicente, about the end, about desire, love, laughter... In order to talk about a world to which one could get to be whatever and forget of who he is in reality, or not. Daniel Abreu

DANIEL ABREU Daniel Abreu is originally from Tenerife. He is a dancer and choreographer, with a degree in psychology, and is based in Madrid. He directs his own company, the Daniel Abreu Company, since He developed his career as a dance and theatre performer in important contemporary dance groups in Spain, such as Provisional Danza, directed by Carmen Werner, Lanónima Imperial directed by Juan Carlos García, Matarile Teatro directed by Ana Vallés and the Marina Wainer Theatre Company. He began his own creative trajectory in 2003 with the solo Espera. Since then he has been a prolific and diverse choreographer, creating over 20 choreographies, including solos, collective creations, and commissions for other companies and festivals. He was given the Outstanding Dancer Award in the XVIII Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid (2004), along with a grant to take part in the American Dance Festival. He also received the Most Outstanding Dancer Award in the IV Certamen Coreográfico de Maspalomas (1999), along with a grant for Espacio Madrid. Jointly with Mónica García, he won a Choreography Award for the Y eso que no me dejaban ver Dallas in the XVIII Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid (2004), as well as a residency creation in O Espaço do Tempo, in Montemor-o-Novo (Portugal). Recognition that he was searching for a personal language in his work, enabled him to present his pieces in a number of different Theatres, Contests and Festivals (Denmark, Germany, Poland, Brazil, Venezuela, Portugal, Croatia, the UK, Guatemala, El Salvador, Spain ). Among his latest creations that particularly stand out are: Ojos de Pez, Perro and Los Zuecos van Hacia sus Buenos Hábitos. These pieces were selected for the Circuito de la Red de Salas Alternativas in 2007, 2008 and Perro was also selected to be part of AEROWAVES In 2008, he premiered Negro, created in co-production with the Centro Coreográfico Galego and the Auditorio de Tenerife. The piece was presented at venues such as the Festival Internacional Madrid en Danza (2008). In October 2009, the theatre La Cuarta Pared in Madrid, offered a panoramic of Daniel Abreu s trajectory by presenting six pieces of the company s repertory.
Daniel Abreu combines his activity as a director of the Daniel Abreu Company with collaborations as a creator and performer for other companies and festivals. He also gives lessons and workshops in a variety of Theatres, Festivals and Institutions, such as the Conservatorio Superior María de Ávila in Madrid. ROBERTO LEAL Originally from Tandil (Argentina) and based in Santiago de Compostela, Roberto Leal is an actor, director and theatre teacher. He has had widespread experience with companies such as Matarile Teatro, Factoría Teatro and the Centro Dramático Gallego. He received the María Casares prize for Best Actor in the piece INDIGNOS. He has worked in well-known television series and in small roles in films directed by Isabel Coixet, Xabier Martínez, Juan Junquera and Manane Rodríguez, amongst others.
THE COMPANY In 2004, Daniel Abreu created his own dance company, the Daniel Abreu Company, as an instrument for his creativity and a vehicle to express his choreographic style. The company s repertoire includes more than 20 pieces, created by Daniel Abreu, starting with a series of solos, such as A cal or Se me Escapa entre los dedos, which attracted the public s attention as well as praise from the critics. The company s work has been enriched and strengthened by group pieces such as Ojos de Pez and Negro, which clearly brought out a personal creative identity as well as a recognizable individual style in the interpretation and staging of the pieces. The interest shown by the public and specialists enabled the company to perform in a number of Events, Festivals and Theatres in Spain such as Festival Internacional Madrid en Danza, Museo Guggenheim, Dansa València, and from there on to countries such as Denmark, Germany, Brazil, Venezuela, Portugal, Poland, Croatia, the UK, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador. In October 2009, the theatre La Cuarta Pared in Madrid organized a retrospective of Daniel Abreu s trajectory by presenting six works of the company s repertory. The Company, based in Madrid distinguishes itself on the contemporary art scene by the singularity of its projects and creations; by its constant quest and developing of new languages of contemporary expression through dance; and by engaging in a fertile dialogue with other artistic disciplines such as theatre and photography. The projects involve participation by the artistic team. The dancers and actors thereby have an indisputable influence on the final results of each work..
Press and Critics We see two friends who talk, who laugh, who satirize, who talk about themselves even just to say that they do not want to talk, who know and criticize one another with affection, who show sweet and close, hard and sad when they portray their miseries. We perceive this naturalness of the relations that do not need to explain themselves because they already have a weight. From a settings point of view, it is not just the space that completes the piece, but also the use that the characters make of it. No point of view escapes, no plan, no element. While Roberto is brilliant in his monologues, dances, he provokes the laughter of the audience or he makes us an accomplice to the life itself, Daniel decorates the stage over a table, on a streetlight in incredible equilibriums, on the sand in his animal movements. Or Daniel dances, large, great and elegant while Roberto Leal changes clothes to give way to a vaudeville scene, with the maximum taste, with live kilos and skin Nerea Aguilar Sanz, The national scene finds in him a committed creator who finds in risk and honesty his starting point, and also the support of his talent. The search in the gesture, in the movement but also in situations and new registries, wraps the structure and essence of his works, abstract, no easy, and conductors of images that serve Abreu to talk about life and the human being.
