1 Rodings Primary School Newsletter for on-line payments 07/12/2018 Dear Parents & Carers Christmas started with a bang last Friday when we held the annual Christmas Craft Fair. We really know that Christmas is just around the corner when the school gets transformed into Santa's Grotto, the turkey starts cooking in the kitchen and all the stall holders begin to arrive. Once again it was a huge success, so 'thank you' to the Friends for putting on a wonderful event again. The Christmas Craft Fair raised 2500 which is amazing in just two hours. This money will go towards replacing the children's kitchen and we are also hoping to purchase 40 more Chromebooks. Along with the Craft Fair the children also set up their own businesses and sold their goods at the fair. The children did a great job and we have some budding Sir Alan Sugars amongst them. All classes have been able to return the initial loan from the school and are now busy deciding what they are going to spend their profit on. This was such a great initiative that we will definitely do it again. Finally, thank you all for the lovely feedback that I have had since I was on BBC Radio Essex talking about the school and the local community. I hope it came across that this is a special school in a very special community. Well, Christmas really kicks in next week with the EYFS and KS1 Nativity productions. Hopeful I'll see you there! Have a lovely weekend! Mr. Raraty, Headteacher Archery Event Last Friday, I had the pleasure of taking a group of Year 3's to Flitch Green Academy to take part in an archery event. After some initial training and some practice rounds we competed as a team again 6 other schools. We had great fun and Kayleigh won bronze in the girls section. Year 6 competed in the afternoon. All represented the school brilliantly!
2 KS2 Carol Concert Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 Parents are cordially invited to join the KS2 Children for a Christmas Carol Concert on Tuesday 18th December at 6.00pm We will be singing on the Playground so wrap up warm. Refreshments will be on sale courtesy of our wonderful Friends Carols in the Forest Weather permitting, we will be taking all of Year R, 1 and 2 to the Forest on the morning of Monday 17th December morning to celebrate Christmas with Carols in the Forest. Please could you ensure that your child wears their warm forest school clothes on this day. They will be able to remain in their forest clothes for the remainder of the day but please do send in school shoes in a named carrier bag for them to change into for the afternoon. For any children with pierced ears please do ensure that earrings have been removed at home. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those parents who have helped with forest schools this term. Your support is very much appreciated.

6 Parental Consent Form Dear Parent/Guardian, We are delighted to inform you that the Friends of Rodings Primary School run a Film Club in your school in the spring and summer term. It will be a chance for your child to experience a variety of films in a safe, happy and structured setting. What is Into Film? Into Film Club is a UK-wide cultural arts education organisation. Our Film Club aims to make a wide range of films available to young people, which challenge, unite, educate, amaze and inspire. Your child will have the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of film and use the Into Film website to search for the films they want to watch, submit reviews and enter exciting competitions! The films shown in our film club will be suitable for your child s age. However, from time to time we may choose to show a higher certification than your child s age group, that we deem suitable and appropriate, for example a PG rating. We will always notify you in advance the chosen film for the term. Film classifications are explained below. For more details, visit the Film Classifications U - Suitable for audiences aged four years and over. U films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror. PG - Parental Guidance - General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. 12A - Suitable for 12 years and over. Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.
7 Please complete and return the form I am happy for my child/children to: 1) take part in Film Club and agree to collect them from school afterwards 2) consume refreshments at Film Club, for which there will be a small charge 3) watch a PG film classified above my child s age deemed suitable for showing at Film Club 4) upload reviews on the Into Film Club website 5) participate in extra film club activities that may take place in school I understand the film classification categories and agree to all the above points. Please sign below to confirm this and return to your school. Many thanks. Your child s name... Class Your name (block capitals). Signature:..Date:...
