1 January 2018 Edition 123 No.91 January 2018 Meeting Dates Meetings are at the Clover Arts Center (formerly Baptist Temple) 1101 Clover St., Brighton. Unless there are holiday conflicts, our regular meetings will be on the first and third Mondays of the month. Due to the New Year holiday this month's meetings will be on the second and third Mondays, Jan. 8 th and Jan.15 th. The first meeting will be the competition, with the following categories: digital, monochrome, large color and small color. Announcements are at 7:00 with competition starting at 7:15. Late submissions (after 7:00) will not be eligible for competition. Dues must have been paid prior to the meeting so that you are on the membership list in order to compete. Renewal form on the last page of the newsletter. The second meeting of the month will be an educational program that will start at 7:30. There will be a Board meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. All members are welcome to sit in. January 15th Program Meeting The Board and Jeno Horvath, the program chair, have decided to encourage members to present programs intermittently throughout the year. The goals for this series will be to share the vast expertise of the club s members as well as for all members to get to know each other better. Several members have agreed to present in the future but the first member will be Al Mosher. Al discussed several possible topics for the presentation but at this writing I m not certain which topic was selected. More program details will be shared prior to the presentation via google groups. Plan to come out for the first in this new and interesting program series. Digital Competition Deadline and Submission Info The deadline for submission of images for the digital competition is midnight on the Monday preceding the competition day (Jan 1 st this month). Following the submission rule, send no more than 2 images in this category to: CameraRochesterDCS@gmail.com. The images should be in jpeg format and resized to 1920 in the longest dimension. Please name image files with your name and the title (Your Name Title of Image.jpg). Note the single space on either side of the dash. Any extraneous information will become part of the title or author. Please also put the month in the subject of the (Images for Month).

2 December 2017 Category High Scores The December competition was a three judge special holiday competition with only one large print only category. The winning images from the previous page are easier to see on the site. High scoring images will be copied from the Meet Up files for printing on the previous page.

4 Opportunity for Learning: Image City Image City Critiques is a program offered by the gallery partners to provide participants an opportunity to critique and be critiqued in a friendly, constructive, positive environment. These sessions will be consistently held on the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00-9:00 pm. The session format has changed from digital to a series of hard copy prints on the same theme or taken at the same time. Check the Image City Newsletter for more specifics about the next meeting. Image City has expanded its learning opportunities from the monthly critiques to workshops, courses and mentoring opportunities. There is no mail-in or online registration. Please visit the Gallery to sign up for courses. For more information, click on Possible New Show Venue We re considering returning to the Legacy in Penfield for a show next year. However, we need members to check it out since we ll need to hang about 100 pieces to fill the large space. The Penfield Art Assn will have a show there with an opening reception on Sunday October 1 st from 3-5:00. You could also visit the show every day from 9a.m.-7p.m. Please visit and let the Board members know whether or not you d be interested in hanging images if we decide to have a show there. 6 CAMERA ROCHESTER APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP 2018 Camera Rochester is a volunteer organization and like all such groups, is dependent upon member participation and support. Members are expected to attend meetings and help with club activities such as managing the refreshment schedule, the picnic, shows, competition, programs and other various club activities.
