2 Master Class Series Continues INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO Hands on exploration of instruments from woodwinds to percussion! Children get to try out different instruments, discover the unique sounds made by each, learn which instruments are "related", observe live demonstrations by teachers and their students, watch a DVD about the orchestra and play fun games to reinforce what they've learned! Sunday, January 22, 3-5pm Preschool through 5th grade At Centerstage, Studio 7 Call (757) for reservations! This is a fun, casual way for children to get to know all of the instruments and to try them out first-hand. Through observation and personal exploration, children find the instruments that click for them, they improve listening skills, and acquire a solid foundation and visual reference for live and recorded instrumental performances. Free and open to the public! Complimentary CD for every participant! MUSIC APPRECIATION FORUM Tour musical eras from the Baroque period to the Twentieth Century, learning about the variety of music, styles and composers representing each period. Instructors will guide parents, teens and adult students through discussions and music excerpts in a casual, relaxed environment with coffee and refreshments! Sunday, January 22, 3-5pm Parents/Adults/Teens Centerstage, Studio 7 Call (757) for reservations! This is a great way to learn about classical music repertoire, how to appreciate each era s characteristic sounds, and perhaps learn which style most suits you! This overview is designed to help new listeners get their feet wet, to help parents understand what their children are learning, and to give veteran musicians the opportunity to expand their interests. Free and open to the public! Complimentary CD for every participant! Parents Nights Out The Jingle Bell Bash was so much fun, we ve decided to do it again. So we ve scheduled two more fun nights for kids ages 3 to grade 5. Kids will be grouped by age: Preschool through K; grades 1-3; and grades 4-5.
