1 Dance Auditions Each Winter Wallace Sate Community College conducts a southeast regional audition tour to select dancers who wish to apply to the WSCC Dance Department. The tour will start in January and will include cities across the south, for details about site location and times contact the WSCC Fine and Performing Arts Department at or brooke.desnoes@wallacestate.edu. Auditions will also take place on the WSCC campus on February 15, 2019 and March 15, Dancers should choose the date and audition city that is most convenient and fill out the audition form found on the WSCC website: About the WSCC Dance Program The WSCC Dance program has opportunities available in the form of Associates Degrees and in Short-Term Certificates. The General Studies Associate Degree offers two dance focuses, one in Dance Performance and one in Dance Education. Two Short-Term certificates are also available with concentrations, in Choreography and in Teaching Ballet. Essentially, WSCC offers a conservatory approach to studying dance in a liberal arts setting, combined with professional-caliber performance opportunities. WSCC s goal is to produce technically strong and artistically expressive dancers who are sought after for their professionalism and ability to easily adapt to the broad range of styles demanded of today s dance professionals. This program develops skills needed to

2 pursue industry career options or further education at a four-year college or university program. Performance Opportunities Students may also audition for Allegro Dance Theater the WSCC dance company, where they will have the opportunity to perform and choreograph for annual performances, and festivals, take master classes with guest artist and Master teachers, as well as participate in outreach programs, and study trips to NY, Chicago and/or abroad Audition Dates & Locations Atlanta, GA January 19, 2019 Birmingham, AL January 27, 2019 Winston Salem, NC February 2, 2019 WSCC Campus February 15, 2019 Florence, AL February 23, 2019 WSCC Campus March 15, 2019 Live Audition Requirements Live auditions consist of ninety-minute ballet class including barre, center and pointe work. Students will be evaluated based on technical ability, strength, and potential. All dancers must complete the following for the audition. No Audition fee required. Bring 4x6 or 5x7 photograph of first arabesque to audition Head shot Bring filled out Audition Form to audition (see website) Video Auditions If unable to attend a live audition, students may submit a recorded audition using Vimeo.com or YouTube link, or by sending standard cd through the mail. If electronically

3 sending audition, please send all material at one time. Digital audition submissions will be accepted from January 1st thru April 30 th. Acceptances are made on a first come first serve base and it is recommended to send video submissions as early as possible as spaces in the program are limited. Scholarships and Grants for Dance Programs All dancers who audition are eligible for merit-based scholarships. This assessment is based solely upon the audition. Notification of the receipt of any scholarship offer will be sent via along with the student s acceptance letter and enrollment contact. Financial Aid, State and Federal Grants are also available for students. 7 WSCC Dance & Scholarship Video Submissions Guidelines Submissions are accepted from January 1 st thru April 30 th. Acceptances are made on a fist come first serve base and it is recommended to send video submissions as early as possible as spaces in the program are limited. Video Requirements: Your video must be no more than 10 minutes in length. Only perform one side of each exercise Do not film in the mirror The entire dancers should be visible throughout the video (no close-ups) Include the components listed below Begin your video by stating your name, age and date of birth.
