1 Artistic & Production Staff Director: Kristina J. Ferencie Musical Director: Eli Manos Camp Counselors: Erin Eisner, Will Kraizel, Meredith Maiorana, Emma Moughan, Theater Department Coordinator: Christine A. Madden, Office Hours: Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm *Times when Christine is most available to meet or talk. About the Show: Based on Disney s Oscar-nominated film, Disney's is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and the fighting spirit. With hit songs and a story packed with action, humor and heart, Disney's brings ancient China to life with a modern sensibility. *Content Furnished by Camp Dates & Attendance: The Musical Theater Workshop is held Monday - Friday (9:30 am - 12:30 pm), June 6- July 8 at Solon Center for the Art. *SCA understands that many families may choose to take a vacation during the camp run. However, because this camp results in a final production, we ask that you limit your student s absence to a maximum of one week of camp, preferably at the beginning of the process. Please inform Kristina Ferencie ASAP, as well as record on your camp agreement, if you are planning on taking a vacation that will prevent your child from attending any camp dates, as this will have an impact on casting. Performances: Thursday, July 7 (4:00 pm and 7:30 pm) Arrive for camp in costume at 9:30 am at for a final dress rehearsal. Students should be picked up from camp, as usual, at 12:30 pm. Arrive back at SCA in costume for performances no later than 3:00 pm. Students are required to stay at SCA between the 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm shows. *If students would like to partake in a pizza dinner for the cast between shows they should turn $5.00 in to the SCA front desk along with their Camp Agreement by 6/10. Students are to be picked up at SCA no later than 9:00 pm after the final performance Friday, July 8 (12:00 pm) Arrive in costume at 9:30 am at Performance will begin at 12:00 pm. Students are to be picked up at no later than 2:00 pm following the performance Themed Fridays: Each Friday of camp, with the exception of the final Friday which is a performance day, will be themed. Campers are encouraged to dress for the theme of the day. SCA camp counselors will decide the Friday themes and announce it to students on Mondays. Some examples may be Disney day, pajama day or crazy hair day, etc. Accountability: While camp rehearsals are designed to be a fun and relaxing summer experience, students are still expected to come to camp prepared and with the best possible attitude. If a student is absent from camp it is their responsibility to get caught up by a camp counselor as soon as possible.
2 Attire and Materials: Each student should come to rehearsal in comfortable attire that they can move well in. T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, jeans and jazz or simple tennis shoes are all acceptable attire. Students should not come to rehearsal in skirts, tube tops, sandals or, especially, flip-flops. It is best if students wear the same pair of shoes to camp rehearsals as they will be wearing during their performances. Students with long hair should have it tied back for each rehearsal. Other important materials which should be brought to each rehearsal include: a notebook, the show script and score, a pencil, a snack and a water bottle. Costumes: While at camp your student will enjoy tie-dying their own show t-shirt (provided by SCA) which they will wear, along with jeans and jazz or simple tennis shoes, during their performances of Scripts: The script handed out at the beginning of camp are your child s to keep. However, it is a good idea to encourage your student to write their name on their show materials and to only write in their scripts in pencil. Practice Music: In the past SCA has provided music CD s to all cast members for the purpose of practicing at home. This year we will instead make both the vocal guide music and accompaniment available through file sharing on the city server. Students will be able to download the music files and utilize them in whatever way is most convenient for them. Please look for more information in an to come soon. Ticket Information: tickets are $8.00 each. Show fliers will be distributed within the first week of camp. Prior to the show parents are encouraged to invite family, friends and neighbors to come to the upcoming performance by and word of mouth. *Tickets will be on sale to cast members and their families only beginning 6/13. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on 6/20. Please be aware that tickets for these shows sell out! SCA does not automatically hold tickets for cast members. In previous years family members and friends have been turned away because the show was so popular. Photo Release: If SCA does not already have a Photo Release form on file for your student, please completely fill out and return one as soon as possible. The Photo Release forms may be obtained at the SCA front desk. If SCA does not have a completed and signed Photo Release on file for your student they will not be able to participate in the camp photo shoot for the program.
