2 About Redtwist Theatre Redtwist Theatre, formerly Actors Workshop Theatre, embarked upon its first production as an itinerant company in 1994 with Simon Gray s Otherwise Engaged. AWT incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in May It produced five more plays before moving to its current home in the vibrant Bryn Mawr Historic District of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago in the fall of Redtwist s first show in Edgewater, Praying Small, opened in September It was designated as a Critic s Choice by the Chicago Reader and was extended two times by popular demand. Michael Colucci, the founder of Redtwist Theatre, is the Artistic Director. His producing partner and wife, Jan Ellen Graves, is the Managing Director. In addition to acting, she directed the critically-acclaimed The American Clock by Arthur Miller and the Jeff-recommended plays Geezers and Aura, by company member, Tommy Lee Johnston. Michael s direction of All My Sons, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Three Hotels, That Face, and Broken Glass was also critically-acclaimed and Jeff-recommended. During Redtwist s time at the Bryn Mawr location, its productions have received 54 Jeff nominations and won 9 Non-Equity Jeff Awards including one for Best Production for Man from Nebraska in As of March 1, 2008, AWT s corporate name officially changed to Redtwist Theatre. 5 CAST PROFILES (in alphabetical order) Colton Adams (Woody) Since graduating with a BFA in Acting at the University of Illinois, Colton has worked with Citadel Theatre, Three Brothers Theatre, Gorilla Tango, and Route 66. This summer he was in SCAPIN at the Citadel. Previously he was touring for the Spanglish production of LOS SECRETOS DE SANTA MONICA. He is represented by BMG Talent. Cathleen Brumback (u/s Tess/Elizabeth) is thrilled to be making her Redtwist debut! She has previously appeared in TWELFTH NIGHT and AS YOU LIKE IT with Evansville Shakespeare Players. She is a graduate of Indiana University. Zach De Nardi (Doug) is excited to be working again with the great people at Redtwist. He was last seen here in DEATH OF A SALES- MAN and INCIDENT AT VICHY. Zach has worked around Chicago with companies including Sideshow, Steep, Griffin, Jacobins, and Steppenwolf. Nick Dorado (Larkin) is delighted to return to Redtwist Theatre! Dwayne also recently appeared in the PBS docu-series, Harmonies for Healing: Under the Streetlamp. She recently graduated with a BFA from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) where she had the pleasure of working with Steve Scott in his production of Angels in America, Part One. Darryn Glass (Dr. Fine) is excited to join Redtwist Theatre again, this time in the role of Dr. Fine. He worked here understudying Uncle Ben in DEATH OF A SALESMAN. He has appeared in Chicago in the productions of EINSTEIN S GIFT, ODD COUPLE and WORMWOOD, and understudied for PETER PAN ON HER 70TH BIRTHDAY and HEAVENS ARE HUNG IN BLACK. He is currently working on the film RADIO SILENCE and a crime drama called 219. Michael D. She is looking forward to an amazing season at Redtwist! James Hesla (u/s Flan) is an actor and writer making his first Chicago appearance with Redtwist Theatre. Regional theatre credits include INTIMATE APPAREL, San Diego Rep, PERMANENT COLLECTION, Arizona Theatre Company, THE RIVALS, Arizona Repertory Theatre, and ELEGY FOR LONELY GUYS by Itamar Moses, New Dramatists (NYC). James took a hiatus from acting in to study sacred Hindu-Balinese clowning in Bali, Indonesia as a Fulbright Scholar. He is also an educator and recently taught in the Department of Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tom Lally (Detective/Doorman) is thrilled to be in this production of SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION. Previous Redtwist appearances were (Surly Man) in LETTICE AND LOVAGE and (Old Jew) in INCIDENT AT VICHY. (Nominated for Joseph Jefferson award for best ensemble.) She is also a teaching artist and acting coach for youth/ teens. Jim Morley (Geoffrey) has appeared regularly at Redtwist since their first season, most recently in INCIDENT AT VICHY (Jeff nomination Best Ensemble), SHADOWLANDS, and LETTICE AND LOVAGE. He spent last summer in AS YOU LIKE IT at First Folio Theatre. Other credits include NEXT FALL (AstonRep), JOHN BULL S OTHER ISLAND, and WELL OF THE SAINTS (Irish Repertory), IN THE BLOOD (Circle Theatre), MRS. He received his training from Kishwaukee College and Illinois State University. He has worked regionally with The Illinois Shakespeare Festival and Actors Theatre of Louisville. Chicago Credits include COWBOY MOUTH with Slimtak Theatre, GILBERT AND SULLIVAN REP with The Hypocrites, and THE GLASS MENAGERIE with Colorbox Theatre. James Ogburn (u/s Woody/Doug/Trent/Rick) is thrilled to be making his Chicago stage debut. Theatre credits include THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, THE POOR OF NEW YORK, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE and LEND ME A TENOR. He is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. Brian Parry (Flan) Company member since 2007, favorite roles here include Nixon (FROST/NIXON), George (VIRGINIA WOOLF), JohnnyPateen (CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN), Dysart (EQUUS) and John (SHINING CITY Jeff Award, best actor in a supporting role.) Also a Promethean Theatre Ensemble member, he portrayed Henry II in their much lauded THE LION IN WINTER. He was honored to play Senator Hedges in Remy Bumppo s Jeff Award winning production of BORN YESTERDAY. He s appeared with Lifeline, Steep, Eclipse, Northlight, Court, Wisdom Bridge, Oak Park and Illinois Shakespeare Festival Theatres. Debra Rodkin (Kitty) is a long-time member of Redtwist Theatre appearing there most recently in SCARCITY,THE REALIZATION OF EM- ILY LINDER, and THE AMERICAN CLOCK as well as favorites EQUUS, GEEZERS, and CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN. He directed a staged reading of THE ROGUE SHOTGUN by Veronica Araica. He collaborated on and performed in YIZKOR with Anaemic Theatre. He recently appeared in OUR TOWN at Redtwist. Elsewhere he appeared as Master Mino in the world premiere of LEDA by Amy Crider, THE RIVER BRIDE with Halcyon Theatre, where he is an ensemble member. He directed SHOOTER by Jeff Helgeson at the final Abbie Hoffman Died For Our Sins Festival XXVIII. 10 STAFF/CREW PROFILES (continued) Elaena Hoekstra (Stage Manager) is a recent Chicago transplant from Iowa, and loves living, working, and eating in beautiful Edgewater! She is beyond excited to be working with Redtwist for the first time, and will be returning to stage manage GHOSTS. Recent credits include F**KING MEN (Pride Films and Plays), EVITA (Timber Lake Playhouse), DREAMS OF THE PENNY GODS (Halcyon Theatre), CAROUSEL (Timber Lake Playhouse), and CINDERELLA...AFTER THE BALL (Timber Lake Playhouse). Many thanks to her family and friends, this amazing cast, and Beth Weinstock, Brennan Jones, and Andrew Milliken. Brennan T. Jones (Co-Producer) is excited to return to Redtwist this year, after having stage-managed SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY and SAGITTARIUS PONDEROSA last season. They hold interest in comedy and science fictions. Jessie is a company member at Runaways Lab Theater and has worked with artists such as Duncan Sheik and Cupcakke. Excitedly, this is their first play with Redtwist. Shea Messinger (Set Designer, Scenic Charge) is a designer, builder and storyteller. They graduated from Bennington College in Vermont, where they produced and designed a puppet adaptation of WATERSHIP DOWN, and wrote and designed WHEN THE SUN FALLS. Since coming to Chicago they have designed and built sets for Windy City Performs SHREK: THE MUSICAL, Quest theatre ensemble s I LOVE YOU, YOU RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE and Theatre Evolve s TWELFTH NIGHT, painted Rivendell s ALIAS GRACE and Fleetwood-Jordain s CROWNS, technical-directed several shows at Windy City Performs, and Piven s A HOME ON THE LAKE. More than anything, they believe in the power of stories. Adrienne Miikelle (Lighting Designer) is excited to be making her Redtwist debut and joining the Redtwist Theatre family as their new Resident Lighting Designer. Seph Mozes (Dramaturg) previously worked as a dramaturg on Redtwist s last show, SAGITTARIUS PONDEROSA. He is a recent graduate of the University of Chicago and is currently interning for the dramaturgy department at Northlight Theatre. Steve Scott (Director) is thrilled to be directing his 11th production at Redtwist, and his first as a company member. Mr. Scott has directed well over 200 productions for theaters in Chicago and elsewhere, garnering six Jeff nominations, numerous Broadway World nominations, and an After Dark Award for his work. He is also the recipient of the Illinois Theatre Association s Award of Honor, Eclipse s Corona Award, the 2017 Special Jeff Award, and the League of Chicago Theatre s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Chicago theater community. Hillarie M. Shockley (Props Designer) is a freelance Props Designer from central Virginia. Since graduating from Christopher Newport University with a BFA in Technical Theater and Design she has done Props work in theaters across the country.
