2 Shakespeare in Love Based on the screenplay by Mark Norman and Tom Stoppard Adapted for the stage by Lee Hall with music by Paddy Cunneen THE HIT FILM NOW A HIT PLAY! Young Will Shakespeare has writers block. The deadline for his new play a comedy called Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate s Daughter- is fast approaching, he s struggling to finish the first line of a sonnet and he s in dire need of inspiration. Then he meets the beguiling Viola de Lesseps, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant. Viola is prepared to do anything -including risking the frosty disapproval of Queen Elizabeth 1- to fulfil her illicit dream of performing on the London stage and pursuing a passionate affair with the greatest playwright of the age. Members Price Non-Members Price Monday 15 TH October 2018 Vulcan 7 A new comedy written by and starring Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer Directed by Steven Marmion Gary Savage and Hugh Delavois were students at RADA together. Now in their sixties, they meet in an Icelandic wasteland, on the set of a fantasy movie. Hugh has had a plodding career but has landed the small but regular role of Vulcan s butler and he s making his seventh film for the franchise. Gary is a one-time Hollywood A-lister who has fallen on lean times and is playing a guest monster with four hours in make-up and one word in the script. Sparks fly inside the trailer as old wounds are opened. Leela, a runner, attempts to keep the peace between them, but outside the trailer things are not going to plan either: the director s gone AWOL, the catering trucks on the wrong side of the ravine, and the volcanic activity is growing more lively by the minute... There s Steven, 60, the Cambridge-educated choirmaster; Diane, his younger wife; Ben, who was once a professional tennis player married to Connie, who was once a model; and Bruno, a young history teacher, who cares for his mother. They appear to be the friendliest bunch you could imagine. Whatever differences or problems they may have at home, they are happily bound together by their love of music. Two hours of laughter and harmonies fly by, until one day newcomer Maggie, knocks on the door and everything changes. Members Price

3 Non-Members Price Tuesday 20 th November nd Street Music by Harry Warren Lyrics by Al Dubin Performed by Bath Light Operatic Group The ultimate showbiz musical, 42 nd Street tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, a talented young dancer with stars in her eyes who gets her big break on Broadway. It s 1933 and Peggy arrives in New York City fresh of the bus from small-town America armed with her tap shoes and big dreams. Legendary Broadway director Julian Marsh gives her a spot in the chorus of his latest show, Pretty Lady, but its star, Dorothy Brock, takes an instant dislike to the new girl. When Dorothy is injured during previews, Pretty Lady looks like it will have to close, unless someone talented enough to lead the show can be found someone like Peggy Sawyer! Inspired by Busby Berkeley s film, 42 nd Street is known for its incredible tap-dancing numbers and includes one great song after another, including We re in the Money, Shuffle Off to Buffalo, Lullaby of Broadway and of course 42 nd Street itself. Raymond is an autistic savant, has a remarkable memory and a genius for numbers. Determined to get his hands on the money, Charlie borrows Raymond from the institution where he has spent most of his life. As the two brothers embark on a trip across America, Charlie soon discovers that Raymond is worth more than he could have ever imagined. Members Price Non-Members Price
